Senior Network Engineer

The Network Engineering function at Expedia Group falls within our Enterprise Technology, Security & Privacy (ETSP) organization. We ensure EG is realizing business value through technology - technology that is secure, trusted and scales efficiently to the needs of the company - all for delivering great experiences for our employees, travelers, and partners. The Network Engineering team supports multiple facets of the infrastructure from data center fabrics, backbone and security to corporate office connectivity to driving connectivity within public cloud providers in support of evolving Expedia Group platform needs.   

In this role, you will: 

Configure enterprise-grade network hardware. 

Configure, operate, and automate cloud IaaS networks such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and others. 

Incorporate the most appropriate model for given technologies into designs to observe network behavior and performance. 

Recommend and justify technology choices to technical and non-technical observers and stakeholders at varying levels of seniority within the business 

Maintain accurate and timely communication with internal customer or partner organizations who may be impacted by network change activities 

Conduct deep reviews of data and issues to quickly reveal the root causes of problems, then execute solutions to these problems while guiding the analysis of the problem all the way to successful resolution. 

Apply your knowledge and expertise to network management responsibilities for the LAN, WAN, and telecommunications systems and maintain overall network services. 

Communicate across multiple internal peer groups to share knowledge and dependencies of new or improved architecture solutions. 

Keep up with emerging technology trends and best practices that could potentially benefit Expedia Group, including gathering data for impact and cost/benefit analysis 

Take a whole systems approach to analyzing issues and implementing holistic solutions by ensuring that links are made between structure, people, process, and technology. 

Experience and Qualifications: 

You have a bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience 

You have formally mentored junior individuals and enjoy doing so! 

You can drive end-to-end project technical design and make well-defined technology choices along the way 

You have intermediate to expert skills in routing protocols such as OSPF, MPBGP, ISIS, MPLS. 

You have experience in AWS network services such as Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Cloud WAN, and AWS Network Firewall. 

You have hands on experience with VXLAN, Palo Alto firewalls, and Network load balancing technologies.  

You understand physical and virtual network technologies and how they interoperate. 

You possess knowledge of how applications, databases, and technology platforms integrate and communicate to form fully functional solutions to business problems. 

You know how to identify issues with the quality and performance of products, services, solutions, or processes, and have the initiative to propose improvements. 

You have intermediate to expert knowledge of models used to show network state and for configuration such as SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, Netconf, Restconf, gRPC 

You hold relevant technical certification such as Cisco CCNP, CCIE, AWS Professional, AWS Network Specialty, or other relevant certifications. 

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $146,000 to $204,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500 which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $134,500 to $188,000. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $215,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $146,000.00 to $204,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
