Position Overview:
Leidos is spearheading the Digital Transformation initiative at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Fort Belvoir, VA. We are currently seeking a highly motivated full-time Senior Network Engineer with proven skills in deploying and managing large, distributed network environments. The engineer will be part of a dynamic team responsible for translating customer requirements into highly scalable, redundant and secure solutions utilizing industry’s best practices.

Primary Responsibilities: 

Work with the engineering team regarding the installation, configuration, and testing and lifecycle management of networks and associated systems.

Manage data and application backups, Information Systems disaster recovery efforts, and Information Systems vulnerability scanning and mitigation. 

Research technologies and strategies to achieve the highest level of network efficiency.

Make recommendation for purchase and installation of cost effective solutions.

Implement DoD mandated network compliance and security configurations; Install and maintain security patches and DISA STIGS according to industry best practices.

Create, maintain, and implement detailed technical documentation for standard systems operating procedures to be used across the enterprise.

Provide input, response, and completion when applicable to Information Systems data-call audits.

Provide updates and input on any agency overall to Information Systems efforts.

Provide necessary input to the network logistics team.

Attend relevant onsite/offsite meetings as needed (minimal travel may be required).

Perform assigned tasks within strict timelines with little or no oversight.

Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree with minimum 8+ years of experience directly related to network engineering, administration and troubleshooting of LANs and WANs or a Master's with 6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Possess active DoD Top Secret security clearance, preferably with SCI eligibility.

Experience with Network and system hardware installation, configuration and administration.

Experience developing high traffic, highly scalable, redundant and secure data center networks.

Experience in load balancing, Firewall design, traffic engineering, network redundancy, and disaster recovery.

Advanced level understanding of Network Engineering and security considerations as they apply to load balancing and constrained delegation functionality.

Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP network models.

Strong L2/L3 network engineering expertise, specifically using Cisco products; strong knowledge of TCPdump and packet capture and analysis.

Experience in troubleshooting OSPF, BGP, VRRP, VLAN creation and port configuration; ability to troubleshoot complex router and switching issues.

Understanding of Load Balancing using the F5 BigIP suite of toolsets, Specifically the APM, LTM, and GTM modules.

Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.

Exceptional Scripting skills (shell, iRule/TCL, LUA, python).

Experience developing or using community created iRules to support functionality not native to the existing modules.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting briefs to senior government officials.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Cisco Certified Network Associate or Professional level certification.

F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5 CTS), F5 BIG-IP Administrator (F5 CA) or the F5 Certified Solution Expert (F5 CSE) certification.

Experience with configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server environments.

Experience with configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining VMWare environments.

Palo Alto next generation firewall experience.

Experience with Azure or AWS Cloud technology.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
