Our work depends on a Network Engineer Advisor joining our program to design, plan, and build communications networks; configure routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators; coordinate LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements; monitor the network utilizing industry leading technologies; provide innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process; plan implementation of enhancements; and work proactively, collaboratively, and with an entrepreneurial spirit in providing O&M support to the customer and their Stakeholder communities in achieving their critical missions.HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:• Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems• Performs maintenance and upgrades of networks including routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks• Maintains network availability, integrity, and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies• Maintains system backup and recovery capability• Plans and/or configures systems for data communication networks• Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network• Supports acquisition of hardware and software and may coordinate with subcontractor maintenance and support services as needed• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned• Occasionally responds quickly to and performs tasks from Equinix DC15, Ashburn, VA (as needed)• May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals• May serve as a task leadWHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:• Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science• Required Experience: 8+ years of related experience• Required Technical Skills: experience in data center networking for Federal customers or for commercial services (e.g., ISPs); strong experience with Cisco datacenter technologies (ACI and programmability)• Security Clearance Level: Public Trust (DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability)• Required Skills and Abilities: adept at problem-solving, troubleshooting, collaboration, time management, multi-tasking, and task-ownership; excellent oral and written communication skills• Preferred Skills: 10+ yrs of relevant experience; degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field of study; supervisory experience; experience with Cisco Nexus Switches (e.g., 9508/93180, 5000/5500/5600, 2K Fabric Extenders); experience with Cisco ACI, ACI deployments, management of single-pod and multi-pod fabrics; experience with REST API integration using Red Hat Ansible; experience crafting custom playbooks for deployment; experience with firewalls, Cisco Firepower 4120 (Single, HA Pairs, and Active/Active Clusters), and Palo Alto Firewalls; experience with load balancers, specifically F5s; task and/or people leadership experience; Certifications - Cisco, CompTIA• Location: Remote, with the ability to report/respond quickly (on-site) to Equinix DC15, Ashburn, VA• U.S. Citizenship RequiredGDIT IS YOUR PLACE:• Full-flex work week to own your priorities at work and at home• 401K with company match• Comprehensive health and wellness packages• Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career• Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications• Cutting-edge technology you can learn from• Rest and recharge with paid vacation and holidayThe likely salary range for this position is $111,350 - $150,650. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
