As our Senior Network Management Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our network by designing, implementing and maintaining Operational Support Systems (OSS).  Your role will be instrumental in optimizing network performance, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.Main ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, implement and enhance Operational Support Systems and Network Management applications to monitor and manage Carrier Ethernet and IP customer services and network resources, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.Work closely with vendors to evaluate and implement new Network Management solutions and stay up to date with industry trends.Review and approve design and development solution documents, internal and external test strategies, plans and scripts.Develop and maintain accurate and up to date documentation of Network Management requirements, configurations, processes and procedures.Implement real time network monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve network issues, minimizing downtime.Investigate and resolve complex Network Management implementation and network problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.Develop and maintain automated scripts and tolls to streamline network operations and improve efficiency.Implement and enforce security best practices to protect network systems and data integrity.Analyze network performance data and provide insights for capacity planning and network optimization.Education and Experience Required5 – 10 years of experience in a similar role.Demonstrated knowledge of design principles, and specifications for standardized and interoperable Network Management Systems.Working knowledge of network management protocols including: NETCONF/RESTCONF, gNMI, YANG, TMForum APIs, MEF LSO APIs, CloudEvents, OpenMetrics, Openflow, ONF TAPI,etc.Knowledge of MEF Lifecycle Service Orchestration framework is an assetHands on experience with NMS tools and platforms such as Netcracker Digital OSS, ONAP, Ciena Blue Planet, Amdocs, etc.Hands on experience with Carrier Ethernet technologies, standards, and protocols.Familiarity with TMForum Open Digital Architecture (ODA), Process Framework (eTOM) and Information Framework (SID).Familiarity with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and/or UML.Decision Making and SupervisionThis role requires making recommendations and decisions which will have influence on the network operations and control solution of the Telesat Lightspeed network.This role requires contributions as an individual and a team member.Working ConditionsHybrid workplace model with four days a week in the office.Occasional travel is anticipated.At Telesat, we take pride in being an equal opportunity employer that values equality in the workplace.   We are committed to providing the best candidate experience possible including any required accommodations at every stage of our interview process.   All qualified applicants that have been selected for an interview that require accommodations, are advised to inform the Telesat Talent team accordingly.  We will work with you to meet your needs.   All accommodation information provided will be treated as confidential.
