Senior Network Manager

Hybrid - 3 days per week in office.

Pearson is currently seeking a Senior Network Manager to lead our amazing network team. This position is responsible for Pearson’s global network, spanning public cloud and private datacenter, which underpins all of Pearson’s leading digital learning products. This includes Customer products and Enterprise backend services. The chosen leader will work with internal teams, management, and vendors to deliver, maintain, and enhance our network and security posture. The ideal candidate should be an experienced people leader, forward thinking, analytical and detail-oriented with a strong desire to work within a collaborative environment. Must have leadership experience managing a globally dispersed team of high caliber engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of network engineers. Provide strategic direction, oversee day-to-day activities, and manage all network driven project deliverables. Work directly with peers, senior leadership, and team members from Technology, Security, Risk and Compliance, Site Reliability Engineering, and Product to develop and implement standardized network solutions across the landscape, both on-premises and cloud. Responsible for network transformation – goals, roadmap, and delivery, to ensure the network aligns with strategic growth imperatives. Lead an engineering team responsible for architecture, design, and implementation of SD-WAN and cloud native solutions. Translate business requirements into low-level design criteria and facilitate collaborative engineering sessions that result in highly available network solutions. Demonstrate a proven track record of success as a leader within fast paced and dynamic environments that span multiple geographical regions. Analyze and dissect existing legacy design and propose modern solutions and standards Exhibit the ability to leverage interpersonal skills to bring teams and leaders together to meet/exceed organizational goals. Leverage business acumen to compile business justification of conceptual ideas to include financial impact, level of effort, benefits/tradeoffs for executive consumption. Manage strategic partnerships with vendors to ensure the engineering team stays abreast of industry trends, to include leading proof of concept and product/service evaluation workstreams. Contribute to annual capital and business as usual (BAU) planning. Empower engineers and manage the delivery of projects – on time and within budget. Partner with technology vendors and procurement peers to validate financial costs – capital and expense, statement of work (terms and conditions) that represent technology solutions vetted by network engineering tech leads.

Technical Skills

Pervious experience as manager for network engineering function, specifically design and delivery expertise Strong knowledge and hands on experience of Cisco networking and data communication including security functions, routing/switching, troubleshooting and incident management, both cloud and on-premises Working knowledge of internetworking and security standards (RFC and IETF) Expert knowledge of transit gateway and DNS as a service solutions. Technical expertise with F5 load-balancer, ASA, Fortigate and Checkpoint firewalls Working experience with the following: application firewall inspection, web application firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, dynamic web filtering, internet proxy, firewall management and audit tools Strong AWS and Azure network experience required.

Further Experience

Degree or college diploma in computer studies or equivalent working experience within enterprise networking preferable Problem solving/troubleshooting abilities Excellent interpersonal skills – oral and written Financial and accounting knowledge – amortization, depreciation, budget management and CAPEX/OPEX Ability to work well in a project team environment Detail and results oriented Customer focused and excellent organizational skills required
