Role description:
We are looking for an ambitious, Occupational Health and Safety (H&S) professional with a technically strong background in Occupational Health/Hygiene , who is comfortable being client facing and committed to growing a career in consultancy. You will be focussed on helping our clients drive their continuous H&S performance improvements across a range of diverse sectors such as finance, industrial, manufacturing, transport, oil and gas, infrastructure, chemical, construction, aviation, contaminated land, local and central government.
This role is perfect for someone wanting to take a next step in their career, taking on new responsibilities, making an impact in our business, developing their skills and experience, and growing their internal and external client networks. It would equally suit someone who has previously worked within a consultancy environment as an Occupational Health or Industrial Hygiene specialist or has worked as an internal Occupational H&S Manager or part of an internal H&S team with responsibility for Occupational Health/Hygiene.
Role accountabilities:
Your role will be based in our wider Environmental, Health and Safety Advisory (EHSA) team, delivering trusted advisor H&S support across a diverse range of projects, from large Arcadis multi-disciplinary projects to smaller local clients. The role could also include supporting clients on the development of digital solutions (SharePoint design, Microsoft Forms, Power Apps, Power BI D=dashboarding etc.), this can be for many different organisations or providing competent H&S assistance/person functions either as support functions of secondments into businesses or projects. The role also has close links with transactional services, so, a broad range of opportunities working on occupational and workplace due diligence works/gap analysis. You will be actively encouraged to challenge yourself, learn new things, and use your skills wherever they can make an impact across the extents of our business. Being commercially astute, a natural team player and leader, committed to sharing knowledge, coaching, mentoring to help colleagues achieve their career ambitions, and comfortable with digital solutions, media, and networking to help raise our profile, are all talents that can flourish in this role. The role is flexible around office or home/office hybrid working. Shorter periods of time spent on-site at our client’s properties may be required, and occasional short term international/European travel may also be required. Opportunities may also arise for our staff to immerse themselves in our client’s businesses in part or full-time secondment roles.Qualifications & Experience:
A member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) ideally CMIOSH level or a member of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) or a Competent Occupational Hygienist. Experience specialising in Occupational H&S service delivery, and whilst consultancy experience is not essential; applicants would need to demonstrate transferable skills in addition to evidencing knowledge and experience of effective occupational health and safety management across a diverse range of industries. The successful candidate will have proven experience in providing competent advice, guidance and support, development of Occupational H&S management systems, Occupational Health/Hygiene monitoring (noise, indoor air quality, Local Exhaust Ventilation etc.), Legionella risk assessments, progression of workplace inspections, internal Occupational H&S audits, fire risk assessments, accident investigations, dealing with situations and controls associated with stress, anxiety and depression, asbestos management, noise, construction, refurbishment, supporting consultation elements, monitoring Occupational H&S performance along with the development and delivery of wide range of health and safety training packages. You will need to be client focussed, committed to providing great service and solutions to improve our client’s businesses. Applying technical, people, commercial, quality, and digital considerations into the design of a solution to a client’s requirements, should also play to your strengths You should be a natural collaborator with an affinity for developing positive relationships with clients, promoting our services both internally to our wider Arcadis business, and externally to clients Possessing excellent communication skills; you should also be a fluent and confident report writer, possibly with experience technical reviewing the work of others and confident in understanding and applying quality and governance standards You will need to be flexible in attitude, willing to go that extra mile and able to travel nationally and occasionally internationally to deliver quality work to our clientsWhy Arcadis?
