Come and join this dedicated team as a Senior Occupational Medical Practitioner where you will drive the execution of the (SHE) l – health function operational strategy for Anglo American Platinum at a complex or regional level by providing line and clinical specialist management of work-based health services (WBHS). Oversee implementation of health management systems at a complex or regional level.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Execution of the Health Strategy at a complex or regional levelPlan and organise the delivery of the full spectrum of work-based health servicesCarry line management responsibilities for all facilities linked to a complex or regionAssume clinical responsibilities for the complex or region (as required)Oversee and approve staffing in line with approved structure/budgetOperational Management (Financial and Administrative Management)Resource planning and budgetingClinical programme – implementation, monitoring and evaluation (as required)Implementation of (SHE) – health management systemsMonitor performance standards and outputsOversee governance and reporting of WBHS at outsourced facilities (where applicable)Drive adherence to clinical governance (training, quality of care & peer reviews)Respond to complex or regional cross-function requirementsOversee the quality of services (at a complex or regional level) provided by 3rd partiesOversee health reporting for the complex or regionUtilise analytical ability to develop reports for presentation and discussion with the Principals and Leads of SHE Function.Will be required to work after hours / outside normal working hours

QualificationsEssential requirement: MBChBEssential requirement: Diploma in Occupational HealthEssential requirement: Registration with Health Professionals Council of South Africa.Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license

Desirable:

 

Post-graduate training in trauma and emergency care (desirable)Post-graduate training in family or internal medicine

Experience:

At least 10 years work experienceOver 2 years general managerial experienceClinical programme management experienceExperience in the mining industry (desirable)

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent knowledge of occupational disease management programmesIn depth knowledge of the effects of hazards in and around the workplace which are detrimental to the health of workers, the community and the environmentDemonstrated success working as a senior medical professional in the mining industry.Demonstrated success working in clinical programme and medical management (combined)Demonstrated experience with occupational and non-occupational disease management including tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS.Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery within occupational health.
