Job Function:
The Senior Office Account Clerk reports directly to the Specialist - Accounts Receivable. This senior level clerical position involves independent performance of accounting and clerical tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental procedures. Must be proficient in the College's automated accounting system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and process third party billing requests.
+ Performs account collection activities including follow-up phone calls and sending notices and letters to obtain payment.
+ Maintain financial records, files (paper and electronic) and accounts.
+ Reconciles account balances to other departmental financial records.
+ Plan and schedule accounting and financial recordkeeping activities such as process bills, computing amounts due and processing vouchers for payment.
+ Post to accounts routine transactions such as charges and fees, receipts and journal vouchers.
+ Audit and reconcile daily entries such as journal entries and voids. Serves as back-up for Accounts Payable functions.
+ Compile fiscal data and assist in preparing reports for financial, statistical or budget purposes.
+ Assist the public and co-workers by answering questions, providing data and resolving problems related to billings, accounts or payments.
+ Train new employees in the duties of their position.
+ Develop and revise procedures documents, forms and processes.
+ Serve as back-up for Specialist - Accounts Receivable in their absences.
+ Perform various other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Currently hold the title of Senior Office Account Clerk, OR;
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
+ Two (2) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent work experience in account keeping, bookkeeping, or financial record keeping; OR,
+ Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field, plus one (1) year of work experience as described in (A); OR,
+ Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field; OR,
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C).

Hours: 8:45am - 4:45pm, M-F
Salary: $39,797.72 - $50,895.13

The starting salary for all new hires is typically at the entry-level figure, as determined by the step placement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Progression through the range occurs over time based on established criteria such as length of service and performance.
