The IRC’s External Relations team comprises colleagues and teams delivering marketing, fundraising, brand stewardship and communications to support this work. As part of External Relations, the Mass Markets USA (MMUSA) program is responsible for raising $70+ million in unrestricted revenue annually in the U.S. market and plays a meaningful strategic role in the creation of IRC’s brand, awareness and support for its advocacy goals.
Reporting to the Director of Audience and Donor Strategy, the Senior Officer of Mid-Level Giving is responsible for leading and growing the Mid-Level Giving program. This role focuses on engaging donors who give between $1,000 and $19,999 annually through a hybrid omni-channel mass marketing program, combining a personalized, one-on-one approach with direct marketing techniques. This role is key to driving increased donor retention, increasing upgrades to the major donor pipeline and bringing these high value donors even closer to the IRC’s mission by fostering long-term engagement and support.
Major Responsibilities:Strategy & Planning:• Lead a $30 million+ Mid-level Giving program in partnership with the Director of Audience & Donor Strategy, with a focus on integrated, omnichannel direct response campaigns that drive retention, upgrades, and long-term engagement for donors giving between $1,000 and $19,999.• Develop and refine audience-led mid-level strategies alongside the Director of Audience & Donor Strategy and key vendors, creating donor-conscious journeys to increase program revenue, strengthen donor retention, and transition qualified donors into Major Gifts and Planned Giving pipelines.• Innovate donor engagement by exploring and testing new channels, partnerships, and technologies, ensuring the program stays fresh, dynamic, and responsive to donor behaviors and preferences.• Leverage data-driven insights to enhance donor segmentation, improve retention strategies, and inform decision-making.• Collaborate cross-functionally with Major Giving, Planned Giving, Channel Leads, Events, Supporter Care, and other key stakeholders to find opportunities to engage, retain, upgrade, and steward donors while successfully meeting program goals.• Manage and optimize the program budget, ensuring impactful use of resources and maximizing return on investment to meet revenue targets and strategic goals.
Campaign Coordination & Execution:• Lead integrated omnichannel direct response campaigns to retain and upgrade mid-level donors, utilizing a personalized, donor-conscious approach across channels such as mail, email, telemarketing, SMS, p2p text, and paid media. • Ensure smooth campaign operations by coordinating scheduling, content trafficking, and vendor management.• Maintain a personalized, donor-centered approach in all communications, promote content that inspires giving and prioritize stewardship and thoughtful and timely appeals.• Oversee the post-gift thank you journey, including acknowledgment processes, welcome packs, and other stewardship efforts for a seamless donor experience.• Lead campaign project management, ensuring project plans are regularly updated, and facilitate meetings, updates, and reviews with internal and external collaborators, including quarterly program performance reviews.• Ensure alignment of the Mid-level Giving program with MMUSA’s broader fundraising and donor engagement strategies.
Portfolio Management:• Manage a portfolio of 250 mid-level donors with a revenue target of $1.5 million. • Build relationship-based moves management strategies to identify, solicit and steward donors towards deeper engagement with IRC.• Oversee the portfolio strategy and performance of the Senior Manager of Mid-level Giving.• Work with internal teams and vendors to track the movement of donors between Mid-level and Major and Planned Giving portfolios.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship:• Lead the Donor Ambassador program to deliver personalized and timely donor engagement and cultivation experiences. • Manage the donor concierge program, delivering exceptional donor care and ensuring seamless integration with broader campaigns.• Ensure accurate donor data management, including preferences, updated contact information, and interests in Salesforce.• Develop virtual events in collaboration with audience leads and the Events team.
Staff & Vendor Management:• Develop, mentor, and manage the Sr. Manager, Mid-level Giving, and Manager, Mid-level Giving, ensuring professional development and goal achievement.• Manage a multi-vendor landscape, ensuring efficiency in operations and coordination to meet deadlines, while maintaining high-quality deliverables and seamless execution of campaigns.• Foster an inclusive team culture that promotes collaboration and values diverse perspectives.
Reporting & Analysis:• Track campaign results and key KPIs, and collaborate with Martech to develop analytics for better performance tracking.• Report on overall program results, providing insights on key metrics such as retention, upgrades, and pipeline development.• Ensure clean and accurate data processing and audience segmentation across all campaigns, supporting the team in maintaining excellent data hygiene.
Job Requirements: Education: • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or equivalent 6 years of experience in direct marketing, philanthropy, or development. Transferable experience in other fields also considered.
Work Experience: • Demonstrated project management experience – we want people who can carry projects from beginning to end, think through possible obstacles, and proactively seek creative solutions.• Experience maintaining relationships and handling multiple projects, with many partners and vendors, both internal and external, as well as donors.• Excellent verbal and written communication, copy-editing, and proofreading skills.• Customer service or donor care experience required.• Vendor management experience required.• Donor-facing fundraising experience a plus.• Budget-management and reporting experience a plus.• CRM experience required (RaisersEdge, TA, Blackbaud, etc.); Salesforce and Springboard experience a plus. • Digitally literate with sophisticated computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint; project management tools experience preferred. • Commitment to the mission and values of the International Rescue Committee.• Previous non-profit experience preferred.

Compensation:Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
