Job Description SummaryThe Operations Excellence Leader is a key leadership role that will enable shops in the Aero Alliance to strive towards Best in Class Lean Concepts. This leader will utilize their business leadership experience to drive & influence the shops leadership/stakeholders towards Shop Lean & operational excellence. This is a critical role in the Aero Alliance as it connects and coordinated across multiple functions… Safety, Quality, Materials, Finance, and Customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving projects/process improvement to ensure that our processes are in line with the Operational Goals. Driving Hoshin Kanri breakthroughs maximizing process optimization, standardization, TAT stability as well as driving a cultural change around 5S and Continual Improvement. Minimize risk of defects by utilizing data and process improvements. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Drive all aspects of standardization and shop operations improvements, working with all of the Aero Repair Shops to drive the Aviation standard and support ongoing improvement actions. This person will need to manage multiple interfaces and be able to deliver in a very challenging environmentStandardize ways of working across all shops and functionsStandardize reporting including Incoming, Inspection and Final reportsDrive simplified Shop Routings and digitize where possibleStandardize and simplify shops operating mechanisms utilizing lean conceptsDrive development of key IT solutions Work with the shops to implement operational best practices across all gatesDefine, prioritize, direct & track progress on the Lean journey… e.g. 5 S, layout and flow across all of the shopsCreate and own the operating mechanisms for the Operations teamWork with the Lean team to help define strategy for becoming more mature in lean conceptsWork with key functional leaders across the network to drive an aligned continuous improvement cultureDrive quality continuous improvement activities at a global or local level including methods, tools, roadmap systems, elaboration, and deployment. Manage industrial improvement projects including process improvement, revamp-up or extension, localization of manufacturing activities, etc.Developing expertise within function. Growing reputation within the organization. Includes roles that are experts in their discipline, providing professional or thought leadership. Influences quality improvements by linking with other functions of the organization.May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. e.g. ARMS / Oracle. Presents business solutions to leaders in functional area. Communicates complex messages and negotiates internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to act and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.Has major influence on shop operations with a continual focus on the wing to wing needs of the Aero Alliance.Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision. Coordinate metric standardization across the Repair network, including weekly risk assessment and drive actions to proactively work on level loading the shops where possible.

Qualifications/Requirements 

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or collegeMinimum of 5 years experience in leading Continuous Improvement transformationMinimum of 3 years of experience in leading in a matrix environmentExperience in Planning and/or Project Management

Desired Characteristics 

Master's Degree in Business or advanced degreeExperience in a Global Function such as Engine Overhaul Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality or Supply ChainCapability and experience to work with local and remote resources, merging people from different locations as needed to close complex projects in due timeExperience with maintaining cross functional risk management processes.Proven track record of delivery in a challenging roleAbility to lead, coach, mentor and work effectively across functions whilst leading in a matrix environment.Proven Business leadership experienceAbility to lead, coach & mentor employees across the various businesses at all levelsExposure to financial measurements and accounting principles in a manufacturing environmentStrong team player with high energyKnowledgeable of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP)Knowledge of Lean manufacturingStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsA drive and desire to succeedAbility and willingness to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 10-15% of the time and must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies
