Senior Operational Performance Analyst (Term Opportunity - 6 months)

What you can expect from this position:

The Senior Operational Performance Analyst reports to the Manager, Operational Performance and will provide analysis and insight to the Airport Operations group and the GTAA. The role will provide value in enabling corporate strategies, actioning and defining performance agreements, and supporting initiatives designed to make the GTAA a data driven operation and business.

As a Senior Operational Performance Analyst, you will:

Analyze data from multiple internal and external sources and provide structured and fact-based insight/research into the operation for both internal and external parties Use statistical analysis, forecasting, modelling and business intelligence tools to find and prompt improvement in operations, asset utilization, support both long- and short-term planning, maintain legal/contractual agreements, aid in the development of action/business plans and validate performance Develop and administer both automated and manual reporting templates and systems to produce written/published reports, dashboards (static and self-service), and presentations Apply quality and relevant data (operational and contextual) in forensic and predictive analysis, modelling, automated reports/dashboard and the establishing of corporate records Find opportunities to improve data quality and address gaps in both current and future/strategic knowledge/data, while ensuring software and tools acquired/developed are effective in building, managing and accessing the GTAA’s data asset Build strong and collaborative working relationships with process owners and other partners to fully understand their operations and business, using data to influence and improve process and capacity use Work with GTAA IT and third-party vendors to drive and support existing or new applications/initiatives/skills which enable continuous improvement and operational excellence (e.g. EDM, XOVIS, A-CDM, OPAS, business intelligence applications) Act as a A-CDM system super user and working with the project team will perform user and factory acceptance testing, including end user education and familiarization, and system activation.    Maintain well-organized, clear and concise formal records of all night flights at Toronto Pearson and of all other potential noise operating restrictions violations, noise abatement procedures violations, and any other documents required for Transport Canada auditing purposes

This is a unionized position with an hourly wage of $50.01, based on a 37.5 hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. A test will be administered as part of the recruitment process.

This is the role for you, if you have:

Post-secondary degree in Data Science, Process/Industrial engineering, or Operations research, Statistics, Management, or another relevant degree, and/or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years’ experience in data management, analysis and reporting Experience in airport operations, air navigation services and/or airline operations would be considered a distinct asset. Experience with systems and business intelligence (BI) tools for the integration, analysis and reporting of data, specifically Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy, Visual Basic, R, SQL (programming/scripting), Access, Hyperion ETL, and Oracle Provincial G class driver’s license Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Canada Security Clarence

Knowledge and skill you bring, that set-you up for success:

Appreciation of systems-based operations and their relations to each other (i.e. qualifying and quantifying flow, process, influencing factors and bottlenecks) Experience with and knowledge of specific portfolios of airport data and operations is preferred. Portfolios of work will be shared across staff, and include aircraft flow (A-CDM, airport facility usage, aircraft movements, ground handler activities, radar data, flight strip information, air traffic control, weather ), schedule (airline feeds, slots, schedule changes, adherence), baggage operations (inbound delivery, outbound delivery, screening, apron activities, connections), terminal operations (passenger flow, agency wait-times, airline relationships), and winter operations (snow removal, deicing). Constructively questions established processes and guidelines in the spirit of continual improvement and optimization by the application of data, critical thinking, research and adopting new approaches/technologies. Ability to work efficiently with large and complex data sets and convey, via various channels (written, verbal, static/dynamic graphical formats) relevant insights and tell a story/narrative to respective audiences to gain agreement or prompt improvement action. Ability to assemble, validate, manage and join large data sources. Ability to apply advanced statistics to summarize, examine, and model data to capture current and/or predictive states of performance. Ability to use industry systems (e.g. XOVIS, Brock, ANOMS, OPAS) and business intelligence (BI) tools for the collection, cleaning, and manipulation of data. Demonstrated experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy) and/or Visual Basic, R, SQL, Access, and Oracle in the analysis and reporting of data. Knowledge of databases and experience with SQL Programming/scripting. Possess an eye to identify erroneous data and operational irregularities/improvement opportunities. Demonstrates strong communication in English, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications, with a special focus on Excel Dependable, self-motivated, exhibiting initiative, tact and a mature approach when working with both internal and external parties/peers, conflict and high-pressure situations. Adaptable to work with changing priorities and new technologies. Ability to conduct research individually or as in a team, onsite (i.e. in operational areas) or an office setting. Establishes effective working relationships with management, coworkers, front line staff and partners (i.e. airlines, baggage handlers, agencies). Acquire a thorough understanding of the operation, data & airport facilities through in-person training, site tours and observations of the operation. This includes successful completion of Pearson Aviation Academy within 12 months.
