ABOUT CANNINGTON 

 

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

 

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This is a Permanent position on an 8:6 roster, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa.

 

As the Senior Engineer Operations, you will be responsible for providing senior technical expertise and driving the Operations Engineering team to deliver accurate designs and technical notes on time. You’ll work closely with the Operations Scheduling team to meet operational targets.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

 

Review and approve technical designs, and align on critical path and resource planning Oversee execution of the underground mining weekly schedule across multiple crews Lead safe work practices and coach the team on safety protocols Manage a team, including training, mentoring, resourcing, and performance management

 

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

 

Extensive experience in underground mining operations, including mine design (stope, development, drill and blast) Knowledge of ventilation, backfill, and short-term planning Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and drive high performance Innovate and drive continuous improvement Effective communication and collaboration skills

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

 

Trade or Degree qualified, or significant industry experience paired with relevant qualification Current drivers’ license
