Senior Operations Supervisor
Our client, in the Petrochemical industry is seeking a Senior Operations supervisor to join their team. **Job Title: Senior Operations Supervisor** **Location: Houston TX** Overview This position manages multiple production units and/or departments within the facility. This role has overall responsibility for the performance and continuity of supply from manufacturing areas. Responsible for safety, quality, management of change, discipline, and operating budget. Directs unit supervisors, area engineers and/or logistics personnel as well as coordinates interaction with other groups to make improvements within the facility. May manage/supervise a team of up to 40 employees. Responsibilities • Actively promote and lead plant safety culture and EHS efforts. • Supervise reports, complete employee evaluations and plan and arrange for development and training. Resolve employee problems and discipline issues independently or with consultation with Human Resources. • Consult daily with operations area personnel to discuss and define operational issues. Determine priorities for the area with regard to resources. • Consult daily with tech service and/or logistic personnel to discuss and define short term and long-term activities. • Interface with Business Group, R&D, Manufacturing, Process Technology and Logistics on customer service, quality, new product/project, and distribution issues. • Develop goals and objectives for the area and monitor progress. • Manage area and unit specific annual budgets. Monitor cost activity and variances. Promote efforts to identify cost improvement ideas and work toward implementation of these ideas. • Provide coverage for the Operations Manager as needed. Cover Unit Supervisor responsibilities when required. • Lead initiatives associated with EHS including but not limited to incident investigations and root cause analysis, housekeeping, and site safety meetings. • Lead initiatives involving quality, reduction of process variation and improvement of process capabilities in the Area. Monitor processes for deviation and monitor daily quality of production. • Aid in the resolution of any relevant Labor Relations issues with Union representatives. • Develop and implement detailed plans for new product introduction with emphasis on First Time Right. • Work with Logistics and Maintenance in the planning of unit turnarounds. • Review capital projects for safety and operability. Issue capital expenditure requests for minor capital projects. • Coordinate the use and implementation of site’s Management of Change process. • Recruit and mentor plant tech service engineers and/or logistics personnel. Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • BS degree in a technical field • Experience in chemical industry. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED • BS degree in Chemical Engineering • Master’s degree in technical field.
