Senior Operations Technician
As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Operations Technician to join Microbiology & QC department in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work a Double Days Shift Pattern, working 1 weekend in 4. Mornings are: 7:00 to 15:00 and Afternoons are: 13:30 to 21:30 (Monday to Thursday) / 12:30 - 20:30 (Friday).

QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.
Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.

Your new role:
As part of the Microbiology & QC team, you will conduct microbiology testing and reporting of raw materials, intermediate and final product samples. This role will include moisture testing of components, environmental monitoring of manufacturing and testing areas. You will be participating in the sampling and testing of the site manufacturing water system.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Routine bioburden testing of manufactured productProcessing samples on the electronic microbiology databaseEnumeration of growth on sample platesMoisture testing of freeze-dried products and raw materialsEnsure compliance with all regulations and laws governing business and quality operations (HSE, QSR/cGMP, ISO, USP, etc.)Escalation of out of specification results and other quality issuesIdentification of isolated organismsLiaise with internal customers to discuss testing requirements and results releaseLiaise with external customers to order consumables for testingPerform other work-related duties as requiredWhat You’ll Need to Succeed:
Maths, English and Science (GCSE or equivalent)Science background essential - Undergraduate degree in related field and/or previous laboratory experienceUnderstanding of microbiology and related techniquesMicrosoft office proficiencyEffective verbal communication to support team working and collaborationFlexible towards shift work, including weekend working and overtimeCustomer Focused approach - strives to improve services and processesPrevious experience with data analyticsAbility to adapt to situations in response to changing workload and functionWhat we offer:
