Position Summary
The Senior Database Administrator in Allianz Technology Malaysia, Regional Delivery Center (RDC) plays a pivotal role in supporting the Database Support Team Lead in managing and ensuring the optimal performance of the Allianz OE organization's database systems within Asia Pacific Region. This individual assists in leading a team of database professionals and contributes to the maintenance, improvement, and security of database services. The candidate is expected to provide technical expertise, project coordination, and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive database strategies that align with organizational goals and business requirements. Database Design and Architecture: Design, implement, and optimize complex database architectures to support business applications and ensure data integrity. Performance Tuning and Optimization: Analyze and optimize database performance through advanced tuning and monitoring techniques. Security Management: Implement robust security measures to protect databases against unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry standards, data management policies and regulations. Backup and Recovery: Plan, develop and manage advanced backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection and business continuity. Review backup and recovery plans regularly to ensure data integrity and availability. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve complex database issues, including performance bottlenecks and data integrity problems. Documentation and Standards: Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards. Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance to junior DBAs and IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Collaboration: Work closely with RDC IF&IS pillar leads and application developer leads to support database applications and optimize performance. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance database performance and efficiency, incorporating new technologies and best practices. Cloud Management: Deploy, manage, and monitor cloud-based infrastructure. Implement and manage cloud security measures to protect data and systems. Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Global Collaboration: Work with global teams to manage and deliver globally managed services. Coordinate with global teams to ensure alignment and consistency in service delivery. Any other duties when deemed necessary. Completing projects on various issues when needed.Key requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in database administration or a related role. Extensive knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Proficiency in SQL and advanced database query optimization techniques. Experience with database security practices and compliance requirements. Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-based services. Proficiency in automation scripting & toolings Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and technologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Certifications in database technologies or related areas (e.g., Oracle Certified Master, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus. This role may require on-call availability and working outside regular hours to resolve critical issues or perform scheduled maintenance. The position may involve collaboration with remote teams and vendors to ensure effective database support and integration.Note: The company provides relocation assistance for candidates applying from abroad for this role, which covers 30 days of temporary accommodation.
