About the job:
The Senior Project Engineer (SPE) – Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SPE-SMP) is a crucial role responsible for supporting individual projects or a portfolio. As a senior team member, the SPE-SMP collaborates with engineering disciplines, vendors, management, fabricators and clients to maintain the company's reputation for quality. Initially, this role will focus on Package Engineering in Perth, supporting the procurement phase and managing SMP packages, tagged items and bulk materials. The SPE-SMP ensures high standards from staff and suppliers, oversees project processes, improves efficiency and nurtures client and supplier relationships to identify new opportunities.
Day to Day, Your Role Will Include:
Lead multiple project packages, tagged items, and bulks, overseeing their lifecycle from conception to delivery, ensuring alignment with project goals, quality, and procurement.Act as the primary point of contact between internal teams, suppliers, and clients, ensuring clear communication and coordination.Collaborate with teams to ensure materials and equipment are available per schedule and budget, manage procurement cycles, and ensure timely delivery of fabricated items.Assist in developing project plans, specifications, and proposals; offer constructability input and proactively manage project scope changes.Resolve construction issues, provide technical assistance, and manage third-party contractors to ensure compliance with project requirements.Monitor the project schedule, resolve issues, and maintain health of the project schedule to meet agreed milestones.Oversee project budgets, approve expenditures, control project costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.Implement and maintain quality control processes, assess supplier capabilities, and conduct audits to ensure quality standards are met.Participate in risk assessments, maintain the project risk register, and manage mitigation actions for risks and opportunities.Coordinate all parties involved, manage client relationships, and ensure project objectives and client expectations are met.About you:
Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with experience in construction supervision or management. We are looking for someone with proven expertise in developing construction execution plans and methodologies. You will have a Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in EPC or EPCM projects. Including brownfield (live plant, PTW etc) project experience with construction contractor or EPCM.
