In this position...

The Passive Safety Integration Engineer will be responsible for complete end to end integration of electrical passive safety components and participate in the system level design activities for the subsystem. You will be the point person for anything passive safety related on this platform and lead the bring up and crash activities in each of the vehicle builds. You will Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Develop and support the launch of next-generation vehicle platforms for electric vehicles.

You'll have... 

B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Embedded Systems Strong Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineering fundamentals 2+ years of experience with Vehicle Network Protocols such as CAN, LIN & Automotive Ethernet Experience and working knowledge of systems development, vehicle architecture, vehicle safety, emerging safety system technologies, software/hardware tool development, restraints control module calibration, functional safety, network and diagnostics process. Experience designing and developing safety-critical architectures 2+ years of experience using embedded networking interface tools for automotive, aerospace or similar Experience in designing and launching new embedded products from concept to production

M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Embedded Systems Proven technical expertise in Vehicle Safety Systems Design and understanding of the intricacies of the subsystem Proficiency in fundamentals of vehicle architecture, embedded systems design, RTOSes and real-time networking Experiencing designing and evaluating functional safety concepts in the vehicle safety domain Experience in leading product development from concept to deployment Strong written and verbal communication skills An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

What you'll do…

Support the integration efforts for various electrical passive safety components, such as the restraints control module, pressure sensors, OCS, etc. Design passive safety HIL environments and conduct validation tests to prove sub-system readiness prior to vehicle launch. Develop the passive safety related vehicle features and work with the hardware, software, architecture, safety and other cross-functional teams to deliver said features. Work with the design and development engineers throughout the engineering organization to ensure passive safety components have appropriate packaging, requirements and interface definition to achieve their specific vehicle functions. Develop detailed electrical device transmittals for various passive safety components and own the document until production. Participate in crash safety, functional safety and failure avoidance analysis of complex electrical and software vehicle subsystems (HARA, FMEAs, etc.). Report feature development progress and maturity at various program milestones. Support vehicle crash instrumentation design and planning to maximize test data quality and throughput
