Senior Payroll Accountant - Hybrid Schedule

Position Summary

The Senior Payroll Accountant is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Senior Payroll Accountant performs simple to relatively complex analytical assignments and prepares entries to aid in the creation of financial statements and analysis reports, sometimes working in small teams. S/he assists Accounting leadership and senior-level accounting professionals with the month and year-end close. S/he supports the company's efforts to comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

This role will support a hybrid in office and work from home schedule.


Position Specific Responsibilities

Reviews and/or prepares transactions for entry, posts entries upon approval, collects and evaluates data, conducts analysis, and prepares reports.Utilizes Workday Financials to extract and analyze payroll data for reporting and reconciliation purposes, ensuring accuracy of both system-generated and manual entries.Collaborates directly with the Payroll team as needed.Prepares detailed general ledger account reconciliations, researching discrepancies and reporting inconsistencies to higher-level associates timely.Supports internal and external audits related to payroll transactions and processes, as needed.Recognizes and upholds the importance of confidentiality in handling sensitive employee payroll, benefit, and incentive compensation data. Interprets and communicates financial reports and results for managers.Identifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in payroll accounting.Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting required.Master's degree with a concentration in Accounting preferred.Minimum of three (3) years of related experience required.Experience specific to payroll and/or benefit accounting is preferred.Experience with Workday Financial and/or Workday Payroll highly preferred.


Skills

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy. Understanding and experience with reconciliation functions, posting journal entries, and month-end processing relative to large data sets required. Experience in the preparation of general ledgers, basic knowledge of FASB requirements, and GAAP required.


Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred, not required.


Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
