As a Senior Payroll Manager Consultant, you will lead payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely execution of payroll processes while maintaining compliance with regulations and company policies. This role involves managing routine and off-cycle payroll runs, collaborating with departments to support payroll programs, managing vendor relationships, and driving process improvements through automation and control enhancements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management, compliance, and process optimization, with the ability to identify areas for improvement, reduce errors, and enhance overall payroll efficiency
+ Oversee payroll operations for a large multi-state employee base, ensuring accurate preparation and processing of both regular and off-cycle payrolls, while managing payroll tax filings, wage garnishments, and compliance with applicable regulations.
+ Drive alignment with the client's payroll strategy by ensuring policies and procedures are consistently followed, while tracking and assessing team performance against key metrics and service level agreements (SLAs).
+ Lead the planning and execution of payroll processes and services to ensure efficient and reliable operations, identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
+ Build and manage relationships with payroll vendors and external service providers to optimize performance, and collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Benefits, HR, IT, and other departments to support payroll initiatives.
+ Provide guidance and leadership to navigate the payroll team through unexpected challenges or changes, ensuring stability, adaptability, and continuous improvement of payroll procedures and controls.
+ Manage payroll-related accounting activities, such as preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts, while safeguarding the accuracy and confidentiality of payroll data within Workday.
+ Act as the primary point of contact for internal, external, and government audits related to payroll, ensuring compliance with internal policies, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.
+ Leverage expertise in Workday to configure and maintain payroll modules, generate reports, and analyze data for audits and compliance purposes
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
+ 5+ years of experience with payroll software such as ADP, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, Workday, Oracle, and/or Ultimate. Workday highly preferred.
+ Effective written and oral communication skills, and strong attention to detail
+ Strong problem-solving and consultative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment
+ Ability to work in a variety of client environments in a collaborative manner with all departments, employees and management
+ Experience working in matrix organizations and complex work environments with a natural ability to drive results through influence and initiative
+ Variety of workplace arrangements including hybrid, remote, onsite.
+ Compensation commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market, and operational factors.
