Senior Payroll Officer
**What's the role?** You’re a highly experienced and accomplished Payroll professional with a proven track record of success in large, complex organizations. You possess a deep understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including modern awards and EBAs. You are a proactive leader and mentor, with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. We're looking for a Senior Payroll Officer to support in overseeing the end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will also play a key role in process improvement initiatives and provide guidance to team members. + Support end-to-end payroll processing on a monthly and weekly basis for a large volume of employees. + Provide interpretation and application of EBA's, awards, and other relevant legislation. + Oversee payroll tax calculations and reporting, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. + Manage and reconcile payroll related balance sheet accounts. + Mentor payroll team members, providing guidance and support. + Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy. + Proactively identify and resolve complex payroll issues and discrepancies. + Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless payroll operations. + Manage and oversee travel and expense processing and compliance. + Participate in SOX compliance processes and audits. + Contribute to ad-hoc projects and initiatives related to payroll and compensation. + Develop and maintain comprehensive payroll documentation and procedures. **Who are you?** + Extensive experience as a Senior Payroll Officer, ideally within a large corporate environment in Australia. + Comprehensive understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including modern awards and EBA’s. + Proven ability to manage high-volume, complex payrolls accurately and efficiently. + Strong mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop other team members. + Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in various payroll software systems (e.g., Dayforce, Preceda, Workday). + Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. + Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders. + Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Demonstrated experience in process improvement and project management. **News Benefits** News Benefits is our way of saying thank you to our people for their valued contribution to News, our audiences, clients and communities.
