Senior Payroll Specialist
Site Name: Costa Rica - Cartago - Tres Rios Posted Date: Jan 22 2025 A Senior Payroll Specialist is essential in managing end-to-end payroll processes for our Central American markets. In this position, you will be responsible for processing and reviewing employee payroll, ensuring compliance with local tax laws, and maintaining accurate payroll records. You will also prepare and submit critical payroll reports, handle reconciliations, and provide exceptional support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries. As part of the team, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of compliance, staying informed on evolving regulations, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations across multiple regions. Your Responsibilities: This role gives YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, the main of these are: Process and review employee payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payment and maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensuring compliance with local tax laws by calculating and withholding the correct amount of taxes for each employee. Prepare and submit payroll reports, including tax filings, year-end reports, and other documentation required by government agencies, maintaining confidentiality and security of all payroll data and documentation, ensuring records are stored in compliance with retention policies. Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies related to payroll and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters such as salary, deductions, or discrepancies. Stay up-to-date with changing laws, regulations, and best practices related to payroll processing and ensure compliance, participate in external audit requirements support and in continuous improvement initiatives. Run interface between Payroll System and ERP systems and generate manual journal entries and accruals related to payroll. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these characteristics to achieve our goals: Bachelor's degree or advanced student in Accounting or Finance. 2-4 years performing accounting payroll tax and payroll process experience. Demonstrated expertise in Central America payroll countries and taxes. Demonstrated expertise in payroll systems and ERP. Intermediate to Advanced English proficiency. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, forecasting, and reconciliation. Preferred Experience: However, if you have the following, it would be a plus: SAP Payroll expertise. IFRS knowledge. CPI experience. Why GSK?
