Senior Peoplesoft Database Administrator

The Oracle Consulting practice within TCS partners with various levels of government organizations and private sector companies to provide complete solutions and support through out the Oracle stack. Maximus Canada has one of the largest teams in Atlantic Canada specializing in Oracle's world-leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions. 

Our management team has extensive experience in the IT sector, backed by the support of business consultants, systems analysts, software engineers, Oracle developers, and Oracle Database Administrators.

 Position Summary

The Senior PeopleSoft Database Administrator (DBA) works collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to provide day to day support for client environments. The DBA supports, designs, develops, and implements new technologies to support the technical and business capabilities and requirements for Maximus Canada’s clients.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures;Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones.Install and configure PeopleTools, Oracle Database, Web Servers, and Oracle related tools and utilities.Administer Oracle Tuxedo (install, patch, and configure).Administer Oracle WebLogic (install, patch, and configure).Administer PeopleTools (install, patch, and configure).Configure PIA (PeopleSoft Internet Architecture);Configure PeopleSoft Update Application Servers and Process Schedulers.Setup and utilize PUM (PeopleSoft Update Manager) to patch PeopleSoft applications.Install and upgrade PeopleSoft systems.Size, upgrade, and tune RDBMS.Control and monitor database and application security and integrity.Apply database and PeopleSoft patches and tax updates.Monitor performance and troubleshoot problems.Assist Application Developers with performance tuning of SQL, PeopleSoft queries and database objects.Configure communications environment and Intranet for PeopleSoft.PeopleSoft Database refresh scripting and refreshes as required.Research technical issues. Provide after-hours on-call support of production environment; and Formulate and document policies, procedures, and standards relating to PeopleSoft management. Strong expertise in System Administration of multiple PeopleSoft environments.In depth knowledge of PeopleTools development: PeopleTools, Component Interface, App Packages, Application Engine, SQR, COBOL.Experience with ElasticSearch and KibanaEnsures compliance with audit, security, and regulatory requirements.Understanding of and commitment to protecting the integrity, security, and privacy of the firm's critical business data.Provides technical leadership and support to peers, leaders, and project teams.

Education and Experience

University degree, or a suitable combination of education and previous work experience. Candidate must have 5+ years of experience implementing and supporting PeopleSoft HCM v9 modules. Minimum of 5 years of Oracle DBA experience.Candidate must possess a strong background in Oracle 12c/19c database administration specifically RAC and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), performance tuning and backup and recovery using RMAN.Minimum of 5 years of UNIX/LINUX experience.Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Excellent interpersonal skills and prior experience with troubleshooting problems. documenting and reporting back after corrective measures have been taken.Highly self-motivated and directed. Ability to troubleshoot basic to complex problems taking full ownership of problem until resolved.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment; and Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
