The Motor Grader (MG) Product Group, part of Caterpillar’s Earthmoving Division (EMD), is seeking an innovative, self-starting, and motivated engineer to join our team as a Senior Performance Engineer. You will have the opportunity to help our customers build a better world by being responsible for the development, integration, validation, and maintenance of overall machine performance for the entire MG product line. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across Caterpillar to define requirements, develop solutions, and deploy integrated solutions that create differentiation and deliver superior performance for our customers. Furthermore, you will support the development of technology strategies, bringing together onboard and offboard data, to deliver unmatched safety, comfort, insights, and productivity to our global customers.


What You Will Do:

Define, execute, and deliver machine level performance that meets the requirements for New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), and product life-cycle support for MGContinually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology such new alternative fuels, driveline technology and integrated controls strategies Oversee the development of engine and transmission performance and emissions, including targeted DOEsOversee the validation of machine level performance testing, including measurement for vibration and soundProcess results, analyze, interpret, and write reports of tests undertaken, including calculations and preparation to present results to the engineering teamsProvide data and other required performance and validation information as necessary, for product support documentation, and to the commercial teamsOperate MG machines to evaluate performance and user interface features

What You Will Have (Basic qualifications):

Degree requirement:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering AND progressive experience in an engineering position.Analytical Thinking:  Proven ability to use tools and techniques to analyze data and determine the root cause of complex technical problems and create alternative solutions.Product Design and Development:  Knowledge of construction products, preferably Motor Graders or other earthmoving equipment, ability to design, build, and develop a new product from concept through to production.Project Management: Proven ability to perform complex assignments, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills are required.  Willing and able to collaborate with international teams in various time zones.

Strong technical communications, customer focus and problem-solving skills demonstrated through past project workKnowledge of the Motor Grader machines and customer applicationsKnowledge and/or experience of driveline performance including engine, transmission, and powertrain experience
