Senior Physical Security Engineer

The candidate should also have experiencewith construction administration activities, inclusive of site installation verification, testing and commissioning. The candidate should have experience managing a small team to deliver projectson schedule and budget,includingsupervising and training junior staff, and have experience with bid/proposal development and resource management. This position also can be worked out of our **Los Angeles** or **Oakland** offices. **The Opportunity** + Reporting to the West Security & Riskdisciplineteam leader, you will be responsible for resource and project management for asmall team (1-4 staff) of physical security engineers working onmultipledesign and construction projectssimultaneouslythat may be in different phases,including but not limited to data centers, airports, and infrastructure. + Support thegrowth of the Security and Risk business, includingengaging inbusiness development activities such asbuilding relationships with clientsand engagement in industry,identifyingworkopportunities forthewider team,writing bid/proposalsanddrivingtechnicalinnovationandworkflow improvements. + Be responsible fortechnical and commercialdelivery of the physical security design, keeping to scope,schedule, and budgets on projects,whileachieving targeted profits. + Determinethe security strategy and set the directionon thedevelopment ofconcepts for security systems thatmitigatesthe security threats and risks of a project. + Collaborate with others, both internallywithin Arupand externallywith clients and other design team members, to ensure all aspects of the security system design ismeeting client expectations,coordinated with other design disciplines, such as architecture, electrical and communications + Oversee and provide technical review of the preparation of drawings and specifications for the procurement and installation of security systems. + Be responsible foranalyzingand responding to contractor’s requests for information, shop drawings and submittals, as well as change order requests. + Conduct field verification of the contractor’s installation, including testing and commissioning of physical security systems. + Arup works on projects around the world and country; travel to project sites forproject meetings or construction administration activities is expected tobelocaltothe San Francisco Bay Area,as well asregionally in the West Coast and in some cases may include cross country, or internationally.   **The skills** + Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineeringor that of an equivalent andappropriate field + 8or more years of experience in practice of design and field related activities, including at least2yearsin a management role + Demonstrable experience in Revit and AutoCAD + Management of physical security project scopes through design delivery and construction administration,onbudgetand schedule. + Ability toadapt resource and project plansthrough expected and unexpected changes such as staffing, scope/change orders, andinput from internal leadersutilizingstrong communicationand organization skills. + Holds, or is working towards a relevant certification such as: Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) via ASIS International, or Professional Engineer (PE) **Preferred skills:** + Engagement in external industry organizations such as ASIS,and/or contribution to development of industry standards and guidelines. + Experience with innovative approaches to working such as developing digital tools, coding to automate workflows,utilizingLiDAR or Matterport scanning. + Understanding of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and how to apply them in the built environment + Understanding of a threat,vulnerabilityand risk assessment (TVRA) process + Use of construction administration software, such as PlanGrid, Procore,FacilityGrid, and BIM360 + Strong client engagement skills, including the ability toleadmultidisciplinary and client meetings throughthedevelopment of securityobjectives, communicate risks, and development ofcontrols.
