SENIOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Physician Assistant (PA)to join our Family Medicine Wound Healing Program. In this role, you will provide advanced clinical care to patients with chronic or complex wounds, while also offering leadership and supervision to other Physician Assistants in the department. Your responsibilities will include direct patient care, supervising and training other PA's, assisting in the development of policies and procedures, overseeing administrative tasks, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient services. You will collaborate closely with the supervising physician, the medical team, and other departments to maintain excellence in wound care and clinical practice.

 

PLEASE NOTE: This position is Monday – Friday, no Weekends. This position covers three campuses (Moses, Weiler, and Wakefield) and visits the Nursing Home once a month (on rotated schedule).

 

The practice of a Senior Physician Assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the PA that are delegated by the supervising physician. It also includes general supervision and oversight of Physician Assistants.

Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposes is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.

In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs, will request validation to perform department specific skills.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred

Five years' work experience as a Physician Assistant required

One (1) year of wound care experience

Graduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant program

Registered as a Physician’s Assistant in New York State

NCCPA certified

Wound Certification- preferred

Hyperbaric Certification - preferred

Knowledge of EPIC, Outlook, Power Point preferred
