Some exciting elements of transportation projects you would work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver are listed below:
• Analyze and evaluate bicycle, pedestrian and other complete streets design
alternatives
• Planning for transit improvements, including BRT and transit enhancements
• Streetscape and urban design planning, visioning, and implementation
• Multimodal network planning and prioritization
• Passenger rail corridor planning and alternatives analysis
• Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Studies
• National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Documentation
• USDOT discretionary grant writing
The Senior Planner would be responsible for leading and implementing multiple types of analysis required to complete a variety of project deliverables. Tasks would include initial data collection, concept development, alternative analysis, documentation and permitting. Working through these processes includes researching, gathering, and analyzing data, preparing project materials.
The Senior Planner would collaborate and communicate with clients and the community, creating and delivering presentations and reports. May function as a Project Manager on planning projects and act as a team leader providing oversight and technical guidance to early career staff.

What You’ll Do:
Under minimal direction, performs a variety of more highly complex professional planning, environmental planning, landscape architecture and urban design project responsibilities, and leads technical tasks. Writes and/or reviews major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for projects. Coordinates and synthesizes the contributions of others.Leads, prepares, and reviews graphics, technical reports, work plans, scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to Request for Proposals for projects. Prepares and reviews budgets, invoicing, and billing.Leads public and stakeholder engagement and presents information to the community.Provides guidance and mentors staff.Leads coordination with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.Recommends process and system improvements that result in greater efficiencies, enhanced capacities, and improved service delivery.Supports department managers and office leadership with strategic planning, staffing/training, and other special projects.May serve as project manager or task lead.Performs other duties as assigned.What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field and 10 years related experience, orMaster's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field and 9 yrs of relevant experienceWhat You’ll Do:
Analyzes the design plan and identifies deliverables.Compiles and analyzes data associated with multi-disciplines and proposes technical solutions. Collects raw data, organizes, researches, and applies recognized tools of analysis to provide comprehensive review of the data.Prepares graphics, technical reports, fee proposals, and responses to Request for Proposals for planning projects.Assists in the creation of project presentation materials, concepts, graphics, and reports to the client and community groups.Coordinates and interfaces with other project team members during the course of a project.Coordinates with clients on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks and to perform quality checks to ensure client requirements are met.Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation. Conducts public meetings/hearings/community workshops and interfaces with client groups and community stakeholders.May review budgets, invoicing, and billing.Performs other duties as assigned.What You’ll Bring:
Understands policies and procedures of the client processes (i.e., regulations, concept of final design, environmental procedure manual).Functions as the Task Lead for simple projects with the ability to contribute to writing scopes and budgets with Project Manager oversight.Gains an advanced understanding of environmental laws (i.e., NEPA, local, state and federal) and ensures legal compliance. Applies knowledge to more complex documents, provides recommendations to clients, and ensures permits are completed, with oversight from more experienced staff.Contributes to scope of work, budget, and schedule as part of task expansion or new proposals with guidance from more experienced staff.Prepares or contributes to preparation of environmental documentation for moderately complex transportation projects. Functions as the Task Lead for environmental documents with oversight from more experienced staff.Additional Information
