Job Description

BESIX Watpac are looking for a Senior Planner to join our NSW Construction team supporting our project delivery teams. Duties will include; 

Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, detailing scope, accurate logic, key milestones, critical paths, resource allocation, and deadlines for all construction phases.Work with tender & project teams to assist in developing programs specific to scope, project and industry requirements, including site access, logistics, materials handling, staging plans, construction sequencing, buildability and the like.Coordinate and plan resource requirements, including long lead time items, to ensure that the project remains on schedule and within budget.Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays, changes in scope, or unexpected challenges. Provide regular updates to the project team and senior management on the project’s status, opportunities and risksDevelop and implement project controls including monitoring tools and trackers to monitor progress and measure planned vs actual progress and forecasting. Identify opportunities to the project planning and timeline, recommending conversion strategies.Identify potential risks to the project planning and timeline, developing mitigation strategies to minimise delays or disruptions.Work closely with Project Managers to ensure that all team members are aligned with the program and that tasks are planned and completed on time.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

Strong proficiency in construction scheduling software (e.g., Asta, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar).Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and modelsProven ability to manage several complex tasks simultaneously to tight deadlines.Excellent presentation, negotiation and communication skills.Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business with a particularly strong internal customer focus.Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment.Proven experience in construction planning, project management, or schedulingExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to foresee potential project delays or issues and address them proactively.Strong organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail.Familiarity with budgeting and cost control practices in construction projects.Knowledge of safety standards and regulations within the construction industry.
