Job summary:
The JV Optimization team is accountable and responsible for the selection and purchasing of advantaged feedstocks and for planning and optimizing the feedstocks-to-R100 value chain with the objective of maximizing JV’s synthetic margin capture.
The Value Chain Planning Lead is responsible for the day-to-day planning, optimization, and steering of JV’s value chain including inventory management.
Key job responsibilities:
Running, maintaining, and developing JV’s optimization model, taking inputs from Neste’s and MPC’s (the Parents’) feedstock supply teams, the JV Optimization team, and MPC (in its capacity as the Operator of Martinez Renewable Fuels (MRF) facility), among other stakeholders.Staying on top of the technical, processing, and throughput capabilities of MRF, the inbound and outbound logistics networks, and on-site logistics to make feedstock selection, production planning, and inventory management decisions, enabling safe and reliable operations and maximizing the synthetic margin capture.Generating and publishing the monthly JV Monthly Operational Forecast, serving as the single source of the truth to communicate the Forecast with key stakeholders including but not limited to JV colleagues, the Operator, and the Parents.Developing and implementing standard methodologies, frameworks, and knowledge sharing tools that enable cross-functional team alignment.Evaluating business risks, project economics, and reporting on key performance indicators.Desired skills, capabilities, and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics/Supply Chain, Business/Finance, or other relevant fieldsFive years of professional experience in value chain optimization, refinery planning, refinery economics, supply chain planning, LP modeling, or other relevant fieldsExceptional analytical capability coupled with high attention to detailsIn-depth understanding of the renewable diesel value chain, economics, margin capture, profitability drivers, and regulations (e.g. RFS, CA LCFS)In-depth experience with feedstock quality and pricing tradeoffs as well as feedstock impurities’ impact on pre-treatment and refining performanceIn-depth knowledge about petroleum refining, preferably renewables refining, operationsStrong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions, locations, company heritage, and time zonesStrong work ethics with a positive, solution-oriented growth mindsetAs an energy industry leader, our career opportunities fuel personal and professional growth.
