Description **Senior Preservation Architect On-Call** An experienced Preservation Architect employs technical knowledge of architectural design, materials, and workmanship and historical research to preserve or rehabilitate historic buildings. Assesses the condition of historic buildings and their significant architectural features. Reviews, comments on, and helps develop plans for repairs, renovation, and rehabilitation of historic buildings. Provides oversight of construction activities to ensure that building alterations adhere to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Works closely with planners, architectural historians, client design teams, and engineers to evaluate, design, implement, and monitor alterations and repairs of historic buildings. **Job Description** ICF is seeking a **Senior On-Call Preservation Architect** to work closely with ICF architectural historians and other cultural resources experts. The On-Call Preservation Architect would undertake condition assessments, review and participate in development of architectural drawings and technical specifications, and provide construction oversight for projects involving restoration, renovation, and rehabilitation of buildings listed in or eligible for listing in local historical resource registers, the California Register of Historical Resources (CRHR), and the National Register of Historic places (NRHP). Projects would be concentrated mainly in the Los Angeles area but could include work across California. **About On-Call Employment with ICF** Given the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (we usually schedule work hours a few weeks ahead of time), and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (along as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work, they do for ICF). **Key Responsibilities** + Understanding project scopes and architectural plans and developing approaches commensurate with project budgets. + Researching materials, construction techniques, and the historic context of historic buildings to determine appropriate treatments. + Assessing and recommending applicability of California Historic Building Code + Preparing, reviewing and commenting on drawings and technical specifications + Preparing conditions assessment reports, maintenance plans, and treatment plans. + Performing construction monitoring site visits and responding to RFIs + Coordinating project reviews and schedules with clients, other consultants, and contractors/construction teams. + Keeping track of project schedules and meeting deliverable deadlines. + Staying informed about the latest innovations in conservation materials and techniques. **Basic Qualifications** + Master’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Design. + 6+ years of post-graduate preservation architect experience. + Ability to travel as required and must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check. **Qualifications** + Eight or more years or more professional architecture experience. + Thorough knowledge of the SOI Standards, California Historic Building Code, historic construction techniques, and both historic and non-historic finishes. + Experience and familiarity with California history and architectural history; knowledge of other regions of the United States is a plus. + Experience with projects involving alterations to properties listed in or eligible for listing in local registers, the CRHR, or NRHP. + Experience working on preservation projects with specialty trades. + Proficiency with design software (i.e. REVIT, AutoCAD, etc.) and MS Office Suite. + Written communication skills, particularly demonstrated experience preparing reports involving historic buildings for regulatory compliance. \#eandp **Working at ICF** ICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, but we’re not your typical consultants.
