The Sensor Controls & Electronics (SCE) Department in the Electrical Engineering Directorate at Raytheon is seeking an experienced Senior Principal level electrical engineer in the development and implementation of FPGA based designs for control and/or signal processing radar applications. The individual will be required to provide development support throughout product lifecycle, from initial concept to acceptance delivery to maintenance.

The successful candidate will work as part of a highly motivated team environment and will be collaborating with cross-functional project teams making up a larger program or internal research and development efforts. Our engineers are assigned to a manager of approximately 20 employees with similar skills.

What Will You Do

Own or contribute to the successful completion of FPGA-based designs, on time and on budget

Work with a team to determine the technical approach or solution to meet system level requirements

Lead small teams and mentor junior engineers

Demonstrate self-motivation, with little supervision required

Work cooperatively with systems, hardware, software engineers, and program management to ensure product success

Architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability

Support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline 

Minimum of 10 years of professional experience implementing DSP functions in FPGAs using VHDL/Verilog to include at least 3 of the following:

Experience designing filters in Matlab

Experience implementing FIR filters and FFTs in FPGAs

Experience with high speed interfaces such as GbE, SRIO, Aurora

Experience with Timing Closure and utilizing Chipscope/Signal Tap

Experience in AMD/Xilinx Programmable Devices or Intel programmable devices 

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value

Experience with RADAR system hardware

Experience developing DSP algorithms and FPGA designs using High Level Synthesis (HLS)

Experience using synthesis tools including Synplify and back-end tools including Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus and others

Experience and knowledge developing and selling off requirements for FPGAs

Working knowledge in common computer hardware interface and data protocols such as RS-422, USB, PCIe, etc.

Working knowledge and experience with configuration management tools such as Synergy, Clearcase, or git

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
