Position Overview:  

Onfido, an Entrust company, is growing fast. We are entering new markets and verticals across Europe to meet the needs of our customers. To do that we need the EU and Member States to provide the regulatory frameworks that allow companies like ours, and our customers, to scale. We are looking to expand our policy team to help with this by increasing our advocacy at EU level and in key Member States.

 

Reporting to the VP, Product, you will be responsible for leading our regulatory and standards compliance analysis and policy efforts in the EU. A key focus will be proactive engagement with the EU institutions to positively influence the regulatory landscape for the business. A second key area of focus will be working closely with Onfido teams in Member States to influence standards and regulation at national level.

 

This is a new role and an excellent opportunity for a passionate driven thought leader to shape the future of the Onfido product suite, strengthen its competitiveness, and lead the conversation in Europe on leading-edge issues in the tech space.

 

Responsibilities: 

As Sr Prin Regulatory Compliance Consultant, you will:

 

• Work closely with internal teams including Product, Marketing, Sales, and Privacy to ensure the business is positioned correctly internally and externally

• Work at EU level with the relevant institutions, and at EU Member State level as needed, with a specific focus on France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Romania

• Constructively engage with and decisively influence regulators, policymakers and trade associations to drive optimum policy outcomes for the business

• Pragmatically educate external decision-makers on market and technical trends to strengthen Onfido’s thought leadership

• Horizon scanning: Identify opportunities and threats worldwide, across multiple verticals and overlapping regulatory spaces in the near and far future for Onfido’s business. Communicate these back to the business to inform and shape the Onfido Product Roadmap

• Become the internal subject-matter expert on EU policy, regulation, and standards that impact Onfido, structuring and detailing knowledge for the wider business

• Consistently support Onfido Sales teams in commercial engagements with prospects, clients and partners

• Consistently support Onfido Marketing teams in thought-leadership and advocacy engagements

• Represent Onfido at relevant industry bodies and standards associations

 

Essential Qualifications: 

• Significant experience working in technology or an innovative, fast-paced and regulated sector

• Fluency in spoken and written French and English

• At least 5 years experience in a similar product counsel or policy role, ideally within a startup/scaleup

• Significant experience working with or lobbying the key EU institutions (Parliament, Council and Commission)

• The ability to understand both the big picture and the details that make a difference

• A pragmatic, agile and flexible mindset; ability to selectively focus on what’s relevant

• Sharp written and oral communication skills; ability to be synthetic / to the point

• Excellent interpersonal skills, a true team member

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant experience working with Fintech, Regtech or Payments

• Fluency in spoken and written German

• Experience lobbying EU regulators and policy makers in the fintech or telecoms space
