Senior Principal Sustainability Specialist (IT Governance)

This role is required to leverage skills and expertise to introduce new ideas and improve on existing solutions in line with established frameworks and governance. This role plays an important part in how the organization shapes and performs data governance and drives the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to establish data governance best practices across the organization. **What you'll be doing** **Key Responsibilities:** + Partners with various stakeholders to analyze data requirements, develop data models, and ensure the integrity and security of the organization's data infrastructure. + Responsible for defining how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data in some way. + Creates a data governance framework to meet business and technology requirements while ensuring data security and compliance with regulations, and ensure it is integrated in relevant processes across the organization. + Works with cross functional teams to optimize data storage and retrieve, enhance data quality and governance, and guide the organization in making informed data-driven decisions. + Leads the translation of business requirements into databases, data warehouses, and data streams, collaborating with other teams and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and designs appropriate data models and structures. + Guides the design and implementation of data integration and data flow processes to ensure efficient data movement across different systems and platforms. + Responsible for defining and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security. + Advises on planning and facilitating data governance communities, workshops, and meetings. + Leads the development and maintenance of the data governance training setup and ensures data governance roles and relevant business partners are trained and onboarded. + Manages the analysis of existing data systems and identify opportunities for improvement, recommending innovative solutions to enhance data management and analytics capabilities. + Responsible for defining and maintaining data standards, data definitions, and data dictionaries to ensure consistency and interoperability. + Leads in the definition of technical standards and guidelines that pertain to data and information use, security, access and governance (including defining accountabilities in support of data quality mandates). + Advises on the creation of diagrams showing key data entities and creates an inventory of the data needed to implement the architecture vision. + Coaches and mentors less experienced members of the team relating to data governance. **Knowledge and Attributes:** + Excellent understanding of data governance, data integration, data quality, data lifecycle processes and data management best practices, and how these impacts business performance. + Enterprise-wide view of the business and strong appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance. + Broad knowledge in preparing, facilitating, and driving forums, communities, workshops, and meetings with people across various levels of the organization. + An expert change agent and communicator knowing how to demonstrate the value of data governance, create organizational buy-in and get the organization to understand data governance. + Excellent ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, contributing to their success. + Excellent ability to build relationships, manage business partners and navigate with ease at all levels of the organization from senior management to specialists. + Expertise in developing communication and training materials and training people in data governance. + Excellent understanding of IT domains of information, security, application, technology infrastructure and integration. + Problem-solving and analytical skills to safeguard data integrity, security, and organization. + Excellent understanding of data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and experience implementing data protection measures. + Excellent understanding of data modelling techniques, data warehousing concepts, and database management systems. + Broad expertise in SQL and experience with database development and performance optimization + Broad knowledge in data visualization tools and techniques. **Academic Qualifications and Certifications:** + Bachelor's degree or equivalent in either Information Systems or Computer Science or a related field. + Certifications in data management or related areas (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional) preferred. **Required Experience:** + Significant demonstrated experience working as a Data Governance Specialist or in a similar role. + Significant demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data governance strategies, frameworks, and operating models. + Significant demonstrated experience in developing training materials, conducting data governance workshops, and facilitating knowledge sharing sessions. + Significant demonstrated experience with data management tools and technologies. + Significant demonstrated experience in developing data governance frameworks, data dictionaries, data classification schemes, and data standards is desirable. + Significant
