Senior Print Production Manager (Temp/ Freelance)

Description:

The role is to ensure flawless development and execution of world-class communications in support of our most important client’s business goals. Based in Hong Kong, the Sr. Print Production Manager provides strong project management skills to maintain schedules for all printed materials on various substrates. The range of work includes packaging, collateral projects, retail window and in-store graphics, event graphics, signage, gift cards, and premiums. Candidate must have expert color analysis skills and extensive experience with pre-press, large and small format litho, and finishing techniques; experience with digital and photographic mediums is required along with supervision of on-site installations. The position is responsible for facilitating effective routing and reviewing of projects through the print production department.

We are looking for commitment from 23 December 2024 to 3 January 2025.

Key Responsibilities: 

This role will report to Lead Print Production Manager based in Shanghai.  Determine project specs, communicate any obstacles that would require additional funding; conduct negotiations with suppliers as necessary. Track all deliverables by developing timelines and schedules with team. Flag issues that may affect internal or external workflow. Benchmark rates for repeating projects and competitively bid unique projects. Work with procurement by corporate guidelines. Work with suppliers and outsource print management responsibilities to production house as necessary. Manage suppliers during proofing, color management, and printing phases, including on-site press passes, finishing, quality control, and kit spot-checking. PPM will advise on best methods of kit packing and fulfillment; on-site fulfillment visits will be done on a regular basis. Ability to appreciate small color variations and give directions to printers on the spot. Oversee external production agencies when they perform any of the above services. Cross-checking with another team to ensure that agencies and suppliers are straightly following the production specs.  Share spec recommendations, provide color guidance, and advice on best methods for quality control for direct/indirect purchase.  Join external business partners on-press and optimize their deliverables regarding quality and substrates as appropriate.

Requirements:

University degree and 10 years minimum of print production experience in an agency or in-house corporate graphic design/production department. Familiar with various of print technologies such as Offset, digital print, screen print, etc. Solid knowledge in printing standard, such as ISO, G7 or GRACoL. Experienced in press check, color approval in printers. Must be a strong project manager who is proactive, highly organized, excellent at multitasking, comfortable under pressure, and able to work effectively as a team member. The candidate must also be willing to travel, sometimes internationally. Strong written and spoken skills required for Cantonese with basic English and Mandarin.
