Senior Privacy Counsel - 11 month FTC

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. The Global Privacy Team is made up of professionals who are passionate about putting our members first by giving them clarity, consistency and control over their privacy. As Senior Privacy Counsel, you will provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams about privacy issues and help support key privacy team objectives, including worldwide privacy compliance, negotiation of data protection agreements, regulatory inquiry responses, and internal guidance on privacy issues. You will work within a fast-paced, well-rounded, collaborative team that values humour, initiative and teamwork. **Responsibilities** + Support the Team’s mission to maintain a culture of privacy at the company, comply with privacy laws worldwide and put our members first. + Support privacy by design by analyzing the privacy impact of new products and features, workforce tools and processes, and drafting data protection impact assessments and legitimate interest analysis when required. + Advise cross-functional teams and lead on ePrivacy compliance relating to the use of cookies and other tracking technologies and direct marketing practices. + Work with LinkedIn’s litigation team on privacy related litigation and pre-litigation matters as required. + Support the wider team on EU AI Act compliance measures and GDPR issues relating to the use and development of AI systems. + Engagement with data protection regulators on supervisory matters and responding to requests for information and complaints. + Independently review, draft, assess risk and advise on privacy-related agreements for LinkedIn business lines. + Lead negotiation calls on key privacy issues with customers and vendors, support LinkedIn’s broader commercial team on data protection issues. + Work with the commercial team to revise LinkedIn commercial agreements to comply with new emerging Privacy regulations and requirements. + Help identify and assess business and legal risks arising from privacy issues, develop playbooks on key issues and find solutions to mitigate them while achieving business goals. + Provide counsel in all workforce related privacy issues including subject access requests, employee/contractor/visitor processes and procedures. **Basic Qualifications** + 4+ years of experience practicing as a lawyer either in-house or in private practice, working on data protection legal issues **Preferred Qualifications** + Excellent drafting skills, in particular drafting regulatory submissions. + Experience advising on and negotiating commercial contracts. + Knowledge and experience of DMA and DSA is preferred but not required. + CIPP certified, or other recognised data protection qualification, a plus + Ability to build strong relationships with commercial and other cross-functional teams. + Strong knowledge of international privacy laws, with particular emphasis on legal and regulatory developments within the EU. + Exceptional customer service skills. + Exercises sound judgment and independence with the ability to recognize material issues and escalate to senior team members when needed. + A team player who can work with initiative and a ‘can do’ attitude. + The ability to balance legal risk with the commercial needs of the business. + Decisive, and capable of providing solutions-focused advice when faced with an uncertain legal landscape. + Sense of humour and a positive attitude. **Suggested Skills:** + Data Protection + Negotiations + Privacy Law **Global Data Privacy Notice for Job Candidates ​** Please follow this link to access the document that provides transparency around the way in which LinkedIn handles personal data of employees and job applicants: https://legal.linkedin.com/candidate-portal.
