Primary Duties & Responsibilities
✅ Process Development and Optimization
Develop and optimize thin-film deposition processes using sputtering, evaporation, and RTP to meet performance and yield targets. Establish process parameters for GaAs and InP substrates, monitor equipment performance, and implement corrective actions as needed. Collaborate with integration to transfer new processes into production.✅ Metrology and Process Control
Develop and maintain in-line and offline metrology techniques to characterize thin films on GaAs and InP substrates (e.g., thickness, uniformity, stress). Use tools such as ellipsometry, profilometry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to measure and analyze film properties. Monitor statistical process control (SPC) charts and drive corrective actions to minimize variation.✅ Equipment Ownership and Troubleshooting
Serve as the technical expert for sputter, evaporation, and RTP tools used for processing III-V compound semiconductors (e.g., GaAs and InP). Lead troubleshooting efforts for process deviations and equipment issues. Partner with equipment vendors and internal maintenance teams to improve tool performance and uptime.✅ Yield Improvement and Root Cause Analysis
Conduct failure analysis and defect characterization on GaAs and InP substrates to identify root causes of process variation. Implement process improvements to enhance yield and reduce defectivity. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and process robustness.✅ Documentation and Training
Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, FMEA, and control plans. Train process technicians and junior engineers on best practices and troubleshooting techniques.Education & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field. 5+ years of experience in semiconductor process engineering, with a focus on thin-film deposition and RTP on GaAs and InP substrates.Skills
Hands-on experience with: Sputtering (DC, RF, and reactive) on compound semiconductors Evaporation (thermal, electron beam) Rapid Thermal Processing (annealing, oxidation) for GaAs and InP Strong background in process metrology, including experience with: Ellipsometry XRD AFM SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) Profilometry Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP) and SPC methods. Fluency with MS Office suite. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with process integration in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Familiarity with defect analysis and classification techniques (e.g., KLA inspection).Working Conditions
