Senior Product Designer
Location: Office-Based/Home-Based/Hybrid, Canada
Position Summary:
As a Senior Product Designer, designing beautiful experiences that meet the needs of real people will attract you to this role. You'll work with a group of passionate, cross-functional people in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment. You'll play a key role in supporting the transformation of our digital experience, ensuring users seamlessly navigate through and interact with our digital ecosystem – which wraps around our in-product experience.
Human-centered-design will be the backbone of your expertise and you’ll be at ease designing simple and usable product solutions that solve complex customer problems. You will possess a unique blend of expertise across both UX and UI design, which means you will have a comprehensive understanding of user-centered design principles, coupled with a keen eye for crafting visually stunning interfaces – bringing a holistic approach to product design.
Your Day-to-Day:
Champion Design Thinking
Advocate for Human-Centered Design, ensuring projects prioritize user needs and experiences. Lead the end-to-end design process, from conceptualization to delivery, ensuring a seamless and delightful user experience. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, other Designers, and subject-matter-experts to translate business goals into intuitive and visually appealing design solutions. Use storytelling and communication for transparent collaboration through design processes. Facilitate cross functional team workshops – bringing everyone together at key points in the process and around key decisions. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices, integrating them into our design processes. Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture within the team.
Discovery & Problem Definition
Engage in cross-functional discovery to understand customer needs and context to elevate the experience and differentiate our digital products. Conduct user research, analyze feedback, and integrate insights to inform design decisions, ensuring products meet user needs and expectations. Perform desk research including domain and competitor analysis, interaction/design trends and 'best of' examples. Analyze relevant considerations such as research insights, product strategy and roadmaps, technical environment and constraints to ensure designs are business viable. Own the creation of personas, journey maps, user flows, wireframes, and design specifications. Take ideas and concepts and visualize them compellingly for various stakeholders. Foster consensus among teams while identifying and addressing risks and roadblocks. Contribute to the definition and articulation of ‘the problem’ – challenging assumptions and 'pre-set' thinking around solutions, agreeing the purpose, principles and vision.
Develop & Deliver User-Centered Solutions
Develop phased design solutions that bridge the gap between current patterns, Bentley's design systems and other relevant constraints and considerations. Use customer insights to create innovative low-fidelity wireframes that lead to hi-fidelity interfaces, which articulate the components, journeys and elements required to solve the customer challenge. Collaborate with other designers, product teams and engineers to test ideas, share challenges, provide feedback and build quality in your practice. Develop detailed interactions and interfaces which are smart, contextually relevant and accessible. Effectively translate brand guidelines to develop and maintain a consistent design language, patterns, and guidelines to enhance brand identity and user familiarity. Deliver UI specifications, design standards, hi-fidelity prototypes, and customer-ready assets. Shape Bentley's visual language as a senior design practitioner and collaborate on building and maintaining design systems for consistency and efficiency. Collaborate with engineers to implement designs and drive continuous product improvement using feedback and data to enhance designs. Contribute to QA processes, identifying and validating design-related fixes.
