This posting is for a contractor role in beverage R&D, focusing on the creation and optimization of beverages for our cafés and alternate business channels across the globe. ResponsibilitiesContribute to success by leading and executing projects through exploration and creation of new innovations and ingredient technology, in coordination with other stakeholders.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, across platforms or channels with some guidance, ensuring that briefs deliver to the strategy and that concepts meet the briefs.Utilize business and customer insights to generate cost savings and ingredient supply continuity that ties to broader strategy and company goals.Communicate cross-functionally and with leadership to advance recommendations and use storytelling to present concepts and ideas.Manage manufacturing trials from pilot through scale up, commercialization, and launch at supplier manufacturing facilities.Apply technical knowledge and project learnings to write plant trial protocol and product specifications, seeking guidance when needed.Essential SkillsMinimum 3-5 years’ experience in food and beverage innovation/product development, bench-top to full scale commercialization and process improvement.Strong knowledge and experience in product development and manufacturing scale up of food and beverage products.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Applies ingredient functionality, processing, quality assurance principles, food safety requirements.Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills, managing projects and change.Project management.Ability to work in a matrixed environment.Ability to be agile and manage time effectively based on priorities.Knowledge of food and beverage technology, ingredient functionalities, chemistry, or engineering including processing and manufacturing.Understanding of beverage ingredients such as sauces, syrups, dry mixes, dairy.Understanding of coffee-specific ingredients such as soluble and whole bean.Knowledge of development and scale up of food and beverage products.Knowledge of food quality control, safety, and microbiology.Knowledge of sensory, experimental design, statistics, and consumer research methodologies.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious lab (R&D) experience.Culinary experience.Innovative mindset.Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related scientific discipline.Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.Strong problem-solving and communication skills, written and verbal.Work Environment
Highly collaborative - onsite 5 days a week. The purpose of this team is new beverage innovation and development. The team culture is supportive and inclusive, with a strong emphasis on work/life balance and collaboration. There are weekly cross-functional meetings, and you will work on a variety of projects based on your skill level, including new seasonal projects and coffee and dairy experience type projects. The work environment encourages continuous learning and development, ensuring you will want to come to work every day.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
