BMC is looking for a Senior Product Developer to join our amazing IZOT team!

 

The Senior Product Developer is a contributing member of the Development team responsible for designing, developing, and debugging of software products. The role requires a good knowledge of product domain, the software development life cycle and the process involved in product development and maintenance.  Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

In this role, you will:

Define the functional specification of program modules ensuring functionality, quality and ease of maintainability.  Mentors earlier career staff. Accurately estimates the size and scope of the development effort as measured by the product delivery schedule.  Develops and tests product code according to BMC quality standards.  Maintains knowledge of product environments and applicable software technologies.  Provides complete documentation in the form of commented code, problem status information, and design documents.  Performs thorough problem analysis that results in resolution of product-related problems according to BMC support standards.  Completes code and other deliverables on schedule.  Performs thorough unit testing; supports systems and integration testing as required to provide a quality product.   Provides input to the Technical Writers for all product documentation.  Works with other teams in Development as well as other areas such as Quality Assurance and Support to deliver quality products and customer satisfaction. Participates in customer interactions when required & Support cross-functional teams in customer specific escalations. Manage expectations through clear issue management.  Conducts and participates in team code (and other artifact) reviews.Works under somewhat indirect supervision & a Self-starter able to work independently to provide quality solutions with little oversight.Able to manage a mixed workload of multiple ongoing tasks including new function development and product maintenance. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments & shares information, acts as a team player, and embraces teamwork. 

Requirements:

At least 10 years of experience with z/OS Processing Environment.Product knowledge of the SQL Performance/APPTUNE for Db2 product or equivalent product  At least 7 years of experience in IBM coding and development, including extensive development experience using 64-bit Assembler and 31-bit Assembler programming languages. Coding experience in a multitasking, reentrant and/or sysplex environment. Experienced creating functional designs/specifications from business requirements. Experience with IBM Mainframe environment (TSO/ISPF, JCL etc.). Excellent knowledge of z/OS structure and logic including knowledge of z/OS operating system internals. Experience in developing working code utilizing low-level operating system functions to accomplish a desired task. Understanding of zLinux and Unix System Services. In depth experience in troubleshooting complex problems at application and systems levels. Self-starter with ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. Fluent English (written and verbal)  

Nice to have:

Experience in C / C++ development Experience with TCP/IP and related networking protocols.

At BMC we believe in pay transparency and have set the midpoint of the salary band for this role at 3,315,400 INR. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. 
The salary listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country specific benefits.
