Job Scope
The Senior Product Development Engineer will lead medical device development from concept to commercialization, including design creation, testing, and collaboration with internal and external teams. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers and managing cross-functional projects to ensure product alignment with clinical and customer needs.
Duties/Responsibilities
Manage and mentor junior engineers and product designers.Lead cross-functional projects and ensure timely completion of project milestones.Collaborate with healthcare professionals and sales teams for product feedback.Develop and implement test methods and protocols.Manage external testing resources and ensure product compliance with regulations.Apply CAD and advanced FEA principles for risk assessment and failure analysis.Conduct patent landscape analysis and submit IP applications when necessary.Lead root cause analysis and collaborate on risk management reports.Organize cadaver labs for product testing with surgeons.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Bio-Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 5+ years of experience in medical device development, or 11 years of relevant experience.Leadership experience in managing project teams and timelines.Proficiency in CAD, FEA, and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.Experience with FDA/ISO regulations and patent applications.Ability to travel for site visits and meetings (approximately 3-4 times per year).Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
