About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Product Owner to lead the development and evolution of data-driven solutions in the food science and R&D domain. This is a client-facing leadership role combining deep domain knowledge, exceptional stakeholder management, and a strong grasp of digital product lifecycles. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in food science or food R&D, is fluent in data-driven product development, and thrives at the intersection of business, science, and technology.

Key Responsibilities:
*Product Leadership
Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for food innovation and R&D platforms.
Prioritize features, enhancements, and technical debt across multiple workstreams using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, UX, data science, domain SMEs) to drive product development.
*Domain Expertise
Leverage past experience in food science, nutrition, formulation, or R&D to guide feature development and solution design.
Translate complex scientific workflows into scalable digital solutions that improve speed, accuracy, and collaboration in R&D environments.
*Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders, balancing business goals with scientific integrity and user needs.
Facilitate discovery workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and regular product reviews.
Drive adoption and value realization through proactive relationship management.
*Data Science / Engineering Collaboration
Partner with data scientists and engineers to integrate predictive modeling, analytics, and machine learning into the product roadmap.
Translate R&D and operational use cases into data-driven features.
Ensure data pipelines and interfaces support both product goals and client insights needs.
Key Qualifications:
*Must-Have
10–15 years of experience in product management, with at least 3–5 years in a Product Owner or Senior Product Manager role.
Hands-on exposure to food science, formulation, R&D processes, or working closely with such teams.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional product teams in an Agile environment.
Strong experience in client-facing roles, managing expectations, leading demos, and influencing at senior levels.
*Strongly Preferred
Exposure to data science or data engineering projects—e.g., AI/ML applications in R&D, experimentation tracking, knowledge graphs, or lab automation.
Experience working with LIMS, PLM, or digital lab/R&D tools.
*Technical Acumen
Ability to communicate fluently with technical and data teams—knowledge of APIs, data structures, modeling approaches, and software delivery cycles.
Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Figma, Tableau/Power BI, and product analytics platforms.
*Soft Skills
Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
High ownership, collaborative mindset, and ability to work in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
Comfort working across time zones and teams, especially in global or distributed settings.
Pay:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $147,000 - $182,000. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
