Amazon Logistics (AMZL) delivery operations are on pace to become one of the largest parcel carriers in the world and looking to hire a Senior Program Manager to define the future tech requirements for Amazon’s global delivery operations.
The Amazon Logistics Technology Subject Matter Expert team (AMZL TECH SME) is the bridge between AMZL Operations and Last Mile Delivery Technology (LMDT) software team. We're experts in operations, use unique data for decision-making, and blend generalist and specialist knowledge to unite different areas and optimize the AMZL value stream. As subject-matter experts, we connect operations, engineering, research science, planning and software development themes to support the development of cohesive product based solutions that optimize the AMZL value stream. We are innovators that actively participate in the deployment, adoption and execution of technology products developed within AMZL.
The AMZL Tech Subject Matter Expert (SME) team is seeking a Senior Program Manager, TECH SME. This role is accountable for influencing business-critical decisions for operations tech that enable scale and deliver consistent, industry leading, performance. The individual will support the development and delivery of high-performance products for Operations and Transporters. In this role, you will manage large, complex initiatives, deal with ambiguity, balance speed with quality, and advocate on behalf of the customer to provide high-performance app based solutions to the field.

Key job responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership, operational excellence, product development, and program management expertise, coordinating design efforts across teams to develop optimal network solutions.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, mitigating risks, ensuring adherence to timelines, understanding resource needs, maintaining project prioritization visibility, and balancing needs between domestic and global teams.
• Identify business risks and impacts affecting resource allocation, providing input on software design for process improvements, standardized work, and optimizing system performance through SQL query analysis.
• Influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively with internal business partners, serving as the interface with delivery stations to drive adoption of changes and prioritize software enhancements and feature requests.
• Collaborate closely with technology, operations, product, and engineering teams, providing leadership and addressing complex problems to enhance delivery systems' capability, reliability, and integration with existing systems.
• Operate in a matrix management structure, aligning Japan platforms with the worldwide structure, and collaborating with counterparts in other functional areas (Safety, Quality, Learning), Operations Engineering, and Delivery Station teams.
• Support process improvements, best practice sharing, and standardization across Amazon Logistics processes and teams, with a focus on enhancing the machine learning system's capabilities.
• Provide regular updates to Technology SME leadership on the system's development progress and potential impact, establishing target conditions for delivery network pain points, and assessing their financial impact.
• Act as the primary gatekeeper for change management processes in assigned areas, ensuring alignment with the overall vision and strategy for the machine learning system.
• Drive continuous improvement by providing metrics input, supporting compliance with standard work, and making necessary adjustments to optimize the system's performance and accuracy.

The Tech SMEs work across technology and operations teams on the prioritization, development, optimization, and sustainment of the technology and related process in order to positively impact customer experience while supporting business growth.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Business Level Japanese
- Business Level English
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years Program/Project management experience delivering successful projects
- Experience owning Program or Product strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership on a country or regional level.
- PMP/PMI certifications
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in related field
