The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost invites applications for a Senior Program Manager. The Senior Program Manager will be primarily responsible for leading and supporting initiatives for 4-VA at UVA and supporting the University’s survey research portfolio. The role will focus on process management, project implementation, research, analysis, and writing. The Senior Program Manager will report to the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and will have dotted line reporting to the Associate Director, Institutional Research and Analytics. The incumbent’s time will be split approximately evenly between 4-VA and institutional research. The incumbent will be expected to work in close collaboration with other provost staff and serve as a key resource to units across the University on 4-VA and survey research requirements. This is a generalist position that may be involved in operational, programmatic, and strategic support activities.
4-VA is a collaborative partnership between ten Virginia institutions of higher education with a mission to promote collaborations that leverage the strengths of each partner institution and improve efficiencies in higher education across the Commonwealth of Virginia. UVA’s 4-VA program is housed in the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.
Survey research refers to administrative requirements, use of appropriate survey tools, and analysis and reporting of findings related to survey research. Institutional Research and Analytics conducts select institutional surveys of students and faculty and provides advice to units on effective survey practices.
The Senior Program Manager will assume responsibility for a range of 4-VA and survey research duties that will vary in scope and level of complexity. Specific activities may include:
Facilitating planning and implementation of key programs and operational activities in support of 4-VA and survey research missions; may assume responsibility for key initiatives
Implementing an assessment plan to measure UVA’s engagement in 4-VA and related outcomes, including designing and administering instrument(s) to collect project report data from 4-VA funded faculty and units at UVA
Developing appropriate survey tools for IRA projects as requested and coordinating all facets of survey administration, which may include conducting background research on survey topics and planning and designing surveys and appropriate survey methods
Analyzing data and reporting findings using statistical software and techniques
Programming and testing survey functionalities, look, and data outputs and managing live surveys to ensure inconsistencies or issues are resolved in a timely manner
Helping to ensure the high quality of all survey outputs through constant review of survey building processes and methodologies
Participating in relevant 4-VA and IRA meetings
Representing 4-VA and survey research before University constituencies
Working collaboratively to identify & develop strategies and programs to further 4-VA and survey research goals, encourage best practices, and manage change
Coordinating and/or implementing projects; conducting procedural analyses; identifying solutions required to move an initiative forward; tracking progress toward goals
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Advanced degree (two years of relevant experience may be substituted for an advanced degree)
Experience: At least four years of relevant experience
Experience with basic data management and analysis software (e.g. Excel, SPSS) and survey platforms such as Qualtrics (preferred office tool), SurveyMonkey or related tool is required. Experience in qualitative thematic analysis preferred.
Preferred (We encourage candidates who meet the criteria below to apply, but recognize that not every applicant will possess each of the qualifications listed below):
Relevant experience in educational assessment, survey development, and an earned Master’s degree in a related field is desired.
Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy, details, and deadlines. This includes the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret information, synthesizing and effectively conveying it to a variety of audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Teams, MS Project, or Smartsheet..
Experience in data visualization and related software (e.g. Tableau) preferred.
A clear understanding of and commitment to the University's educational mission, strategic aims, and academic programs.
This is a hybrid position, with a mix of in-office and remote days each week.

This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated Hiring Range: $70,000- $80,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
