Royal Caribbean Group’s Supply Chain Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Project Buyer reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement.

 

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for sourcing, analyzing, negotiating and ultimately contracting goods and/or services. This position is essential toward the completion of the assigned projects, managing supplier relationships to ensure alignment with project strategies and goals. The position will work within the Newbuild Procurement team on outfitting and special features sourcing and contracting. The position challenges specifications, commercial practices, operating practices, and business processes with a focus on driving cost-effective solutions. This position will be responsible to ensure that the project is delivered on time and on budget in alignment with our internal customer’s needs and within our procurement guidelines and strategies. Scope related to this position is strictly tied toward a specific project. The qualified candidate will have strong planning, project management, cost control, sourcing, communication, and negotiating skills are required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Procure goods and services for assigned projects such as newbuilds, dry docks, in-service projects, or operational maintenance, etc. Implement a procurement and negotiation strategy based on variables such as price, quality, availability, warranty, project terms and conditions, etc. Performs moderate to complex price analysis while considering total project cost, timing, and customer needs Prepare, negotiate, and execute supplier agreements that meet business requirements Single point of contact for internal customers, ensures that products or services are delivered as needed to ensure successful project completion.  Lead timely resolution of escalated supplier issues Maintain commercial interface with suppliers Provides guidance to internal customers during budget preparation such as product and service pricing Awareness of compliance requirements of regulatory agencies (DNV, IMO, SOLAS, USPH, US Coast Guard, etc.) Works independently and prioritizes tasks based on projects schedules Performs other duties as required.  This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.  Employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent job experience Emphasis in project management preferred. 5-7 years’ experience in Procurement, Technical, Engineering, Commercial or Project Environment Accreditation from Supply Chain Industry organization (i.e. CPSM, CPIM) Learn/work in multiple systems/tools such as JDE, Databases, Microsoft Office, MS Project, etc. Strong commercial awareness and negotiating skills Strong organizational and planning skills Flexibility/adaptability to changing priorities, multiple internal customers Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment with all levels of internal and external customers Ability to bring teams together to resolve issues and achieve targets and goals Knowledge of strategic sourcing and procurement work processes and solutions Sense of ownership and urgency Ability to travel domestic and international, up to 20% of the time

 

Work Environment:

 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, possibly travel domestic and international, and work in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
