The Project Controls Manager (PCM) is responsible for managing some of the most technical, cost efficient, and fast paced construction project schedules achievable. Amazon Project Controls Managers are constantly challenged to drive continuous improvement, reduced timelines & identify spend reduction opportunities while delivering the highest quality, most technically efficient data centers in the world.

As a PCM you will be a part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenging problems in building Amazon data facilities. Amazon PCM's are always on the forefront in the construction of new products in a number of areas, maintaining our focus on delivering the most innovative products to our customers.

You'll become a go-to guide for navigating complex project control challenges at every level - portfolio, program, and project, showcasing your specialized skills and strategic direction. You'll put your analytical prowess to work by scrutinizing schedules, identifying critical paths, and articulating your insights verbally and in writing. You will utilize your analytical expertise to collaborate with partner teams on capital construction projects' budgeting and cost control processes. Identify opportunities for Schedule & Cost optimization preparing detailed variance reports to track discrepancies between projected and actual expenditures. Communicate your findings and recommendations through both verbal presentations and comprehensive written reports.





Key job responsibilities
• Manage a team of contract Schedulers and Project Controls Managers (PCM’s)
• Serve as technical advisor and provide senior-level input and evaluation on Project Controls matters.
• Prepare management summary reports to communicate the status of projects to Field Teams & Leadership.
• Collaborate with partners to ensure Reports encompass all necessary Project Controls information, including Cost, Schedule, EVM, Change Management, and Risk Management.
• Review, analyze and recommend approval or disapproval disposition of contractors detailed schedules, including manpower loading.
• Anticipate and solve complex Project Controls problems.
• Lead all section planning, and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, analysis, and ongoing recommendations for improvement.
• Prepare various Project Controls plans and reports, financial summaries, and related activities for Field Teams & Senior Management.
• Develop, implement, and maintain effective scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flows and forecasts for multiple projects, programs and portfolios.
• Review upstream (prime contract) and downstream (purchase order & subcontract) change orders.
• Develop, maintain and status various levels of schedules; industry standard L1 – L5.
• Apply and review the entry of logic ties within the schedules.
• Monitor resource loading of a schedule.
• Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM) with stakeholders; internal & external.
• Create various schedule reports and determine appropriate reporting format.
• Develop, review, and analyze pre-programmed project scheduling reports and back-up documentation for accuracy.
• Analyzes and evaluates schedule management involving the critical path method of scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management and forecasting.
• Perform schedule what-if scenarios.
• Develop and maintain an earned value management system.
• Input and validate progress measurement.
• Develop and maintain progress curves.
• Perform quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
• Perform field audits to validate accuracy of reporting and processes.
• Lead or assist with Project Forensic Analysis.

• Travel to construction job sites across the Americas: (Canada, US and LATAM) supporting new construction and new product delivery for AWS Construction Management team.
• Ability to meet travel, entry & re-entry requirements for United States, Canada & LATAM countries
• Travel required: 50%-75%.
• Experience leading large contractor support teams; teams consisting of contractors, not direct employees.
• Experience developing, monitoring and maintaining mission critical project schedules; master schedules and micro schedules utilizing P6. Including proficiency with logic ties, constraints, critical path, float, lag, WBS, successors and predecessors.
• Travel to data center sites to manage pre-construction & construction efforts and/or for electrical systems audits, mechanical system reviews, constructability reviews, startup testing, and full commissioning, as required.
• Frequent domestic & international travel up to 50-75% to support projects as necessary.
• Possess relevant passport and ability to obtain visas for travel to international project locations.
• Ability to meet entry requirements for regions and countries outside of assigned office location.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA
• Able to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines.
• Define data center system-level architecture, specify/document performance and equipment requirements, create/communicate conceptual designs, and create/maintain project documentation.
• Experience with large scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms. ·
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA and equivalents in various LATAM regions.
• Experience in controls and commissioning of large-scale projects.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
• Experience with MCM’s and MOP’s
• Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
