Senior Project Director – Data Centres – Germany
Our client is a €2bn turnover, Tier:1 main contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major, complex schemes with a particular emphasis on Data Centres, Pharmaceutical and Life Science projects
Due to continued growth in the region of their Data Centre projects division, our client is now seeking an experienced Senior Project Director.
Overall Project Leadership and Strategy: The Senior Project Director is responsible for the overall strategic direction and leadership of the data centre construction project. This includes defining the project’s objectives, aligning them with the client’s business goals, and ensuring that the project is delivered in accordance with the desired quality, time, and budget parameters.
Stakeholder Management and Communication: They serve as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. The Senior Project Director ensures that communication is seamless between all parties and that any issues or changes are managed effectively. They provide regular updates to stakeholders, addressing concerns and ensuring alignment throughout the project's lifecycle.
Project Planning and Execution Oversight: The Senior Project Director oversees the detailed planning and execution of the data centre construction. This involves setting the project schedule, defining milestones, and ensuring the proper allocation of resources. They ensure that all phases, from design to commissioning, are executed according to plan, and they make adjustments when necessary to stay on target.
Risk Management and Issue Resolution: A core responsibility is to identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project. The Senior Project Director takes proactive steps to minimize risks related to delays, budget overruns, and safety concerns. They address issues as they arise, making key decisions to resolve them swiftly and keep the project on track.
Team Leadership and Performance Management: The Senior Project Director leads a multidisciplinary team, including project managers, engineers, contractors, and other professionals. They are responsible for mentoring and managing team performance, ensuring that the project team is working efficiently, motivated, and aligned with the project’s objectives. They are also responsible for handling staffing needs and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Requirements
10 years of experience in project management as a general contractor with strong knowledge and background in civil, structural, and architectural packages. Data Centre experience preferred
