We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer within Body Exteriors team, who will lead in the development of Vehicle Exterior concepts, Requirements Definition, Design Validation Planning, Design & Release, BOM management, Engineering Change Management, and Issue Resolution, and will be expected to work independently for extended periods.  Design solutions must serve the functional needs of the application but reflect an awareness of cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability. Frequent interaction with Vehicle Platform, Program Management, Validation, Procurement, Supplier Quality, Suppliers, Manufacturing, and Field Service can be expected.  The ideal candidate shall bring expertise to the team and a broad perspective, mentoring and guiding less senior employees, and developing best practices for the team. Responsibilities

Provides technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering.  May provide direction and guidance to less experienced team members.  Refers problems that cannot be resolved to the next level.  Serves as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.

Responsibilities include concept, design & release of exterior parts for new products and also support current product issuesCAD model and print generation in NX/Team Center environmentSupport supplier requested supplier changes and resolve quality and design issues under supervision of experienced engineers Lead cross functional team meetings with suppliers, manufacturing plants, etc. for assigned projectsResponsible for creating DFMEA, DVP and validation plans for designsCreate release and overall timing plan to support program deliverables at various stages of product development process Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science  Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
