The Operational Excellence Project Manager has overall responsibility for the development and sustainability of work streams within the site. They are responsible for leading and driving the principle-based behaviors within the plant which include: Creating value for our business and customers, accountability and ownership at all levels, integration and inclusiveness (within plant and outside of plant), focusing on the process, embracing data & facts, right first time culture, leading by example and respect for all. The Operational Excellence Project Manager will be responsible for the identification, management and execution of projects within the plant which will deliver year-over-year improvements. The Operational Excellence Project Manager will be a catalyst within the plant to appropriately, and respectfully, challenge status quo which will continually drive improvements via best practice replication (learning from within the network and externally), creative and innovative solutions, alignment of goals and objectives and resource planning to deliver results.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead and implement key strategic projects that will significantly improve margin and drive business outcomes for the site. - Develops an implementation plan, conducts risk assessments, estimates and verifies financial benefits and develops contingency plans to accommodate unforeseen events. - Recognizes and removes barriers to project completion. Recognizes the broader implications of actions and proposals on the overall business.Owns, communicates, educates and facilitates the site Continuous Improvement (CI) Projects/Objectives: - Mentor/train key stakeholders in the use and practice of continuous improvement methodologies and tools. (Lean, value stream mapping, six-sigma, Kaizen, Focused Problem Solving). - Assist in selecting, scoping, prioritizing, and executing CI projects - Estimate and verify financial benefits of CI projects - Acts as the change agent by helping employees learn, understand, adjust and grow within the continuous improvement cultureActs as a mentor to less-experienced staff and may provide work direction or supervise other technical employees.Thinks strategically to anticipate future issues and challenges and create appropriate plans now, using proactive approaches.Prepares project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project.Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.Communicates project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.Resolves project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate.Consults with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques.Participates in external project management organizations, conferences and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management.Understands business environment and relates extensive knowledge of internal and external technological activities to trends.Interfaces with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.Participates in the development of other technical contributors by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance.May lead a project team. Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Minimum 7 years Related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area.Minimum 4 years demonstrated success in applying Continuous Improvement / OpEx tools.Minimum 2 years experience in manufacturing operations, business improvement, quality systems and/or other areas related to project management.Operations management and knowledge of cost accounting/financial reporting systems.Good functional computer skills (Microsoft Office programs, Excel, Visio, Minitab etc.) is requiredKnowledge of applicable standards for a regulated environment, preferredWillingness to travel (to facilitate personal development and support of other sites)Adaptable to change, able to manage competing priorities, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven project and people management capabilities.The ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced production environment.Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. The base pay for this position is $85,300.00 – $170,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
