Senior Project Engineer - Space Systems / LEO (Onsite)

Our Space Systems business unit within Collins provides life support and thermal management systems including comprehensive integrated Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) solutions for NASA, government, and commercial customers.  Our solutions enable International Space Station (ISS) missions, satellite and orbital destination platforms, and human mobility missions including the current space suit program.  Our products and integrated mission systems offerings enable Low Earth Orbit (LEO), lunar, exploratory, and deep space platforms across a wide range of programs including NASA’s Artemis Program which will establish a sustainable presence on the Moon to prepare for missions to Mars.

Collins Aerospace is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join us as a Project Engineer in the Space Station / Depot Repair - MRO organization managing hardware in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) value stream. The candidate should have the ability to lead Engineering Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) for design and development activities, support verification planning and closeout activities, and support hardware at our suppliers and on the assembly floor. Engineering support of hardware includes dispositioning non-conforming material in SAP, responding to Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs), leading failure investigations to determine root cause and corrective action, managing Engineering Changes, and providing Engineering support during customer and supplier meetings. This position will take direction from the respective Depot Repair/MRO Chief Engineer(s) and the respective Value Stream Leader (VSL) to support schedule, budget and deliverables and will require the candidate to be on-site.

What You Will Do:

Work autonomously with limited oversight from managerWork collaboratively with the Program Chief, other Engineering disciplines, Value Stream Lead (VSL), Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to meet schedule, cost, and technical requirementsCoordinate and lead multi-discipline technical teamsFacilitate Project Engineering tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.Drive world class Project Engineering process using integrated scheduling, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management.Work with other disciplines to respond to SRIsDetermine disposition and rationale for Quality Notifications (QNs) in SAPInitiate Engineering Changes in Windchill and drive to closureSupport root cause investigations and corrective actionsTrack team’s integrated execution performance to planAnalyze, identify, and address execution problems, recommend and implement resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projectsForecast project revenues, monitor costs, and re-estimate project costs monthly to maximize project profitability and ensure business objectives are met (CAM experience)Maintain and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are metParticipate in continuous improvement efforts for project execution efficiency.Champion superior ethical and professional behavior in all situations

This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as a cross-functional team leader. Direct communication with customers, primarily NASA and Boeing, will be required at times. You will manage projects that produce components which meet stringent operating requirements and provide extraordinarily high reliability.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required Must be a U.S. Citizen

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
