DESCRIPTION
The Michael Baker Baltimore office has experienced significant growth in recent years. The national bridge practice at Michael Baker is also expanding. To support our growth, we are seeking a Senior Project Manager in our Baltimore office. This role involves completing technical work, mentoring junior staff, managing clients, and growing the Bridge Department. We need a motivated project manager who will work closely with the local bridge leader and office leadership team to enhance our team's skills and provide high-quality engineering services locally and nationwide. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of our local bridge business strategy and collaborate with project teams to implement work.
The Bridge Senior Project Manager is responsible for performing technical oversight, staff development, contract and task management, sub consultant management, project and client management for targeted statewide clients. Support the local Bridge Group leader by providing team management and oversight for Bridge Design. Assistance in the development of proposals and expressions of interest for our primary clients and partners.
You will bring to bear your engineering knowledge and skills to manage the preparation of engineering plans, calculations, and reports, technical specifications, and construction estimates and schedules. You will have the opportunity to instruct and guide junior engineers in the development of engineering reports and analyses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Most days will be spent in the office leading structures tasks, project management, bridge analysis, and/or preparation of engineering designs. Managers mentor and supervise engineers, helping them with technical knowledge and assignments like preparing studies, reports, supporting documentation, cost estimates, and construction drawings for Bridge projects. Other days you will help prepare technical proposals and reports or meet with client representatives on projects. Some days, you will visit project sites to review existing infrastructure conditions and document them, or provide construction support for ongoing transportation-related projects. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or equivalent experience, with 15 plus years of progressive structures engineering design experience. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience with DOT type contracts. MDOT (SHA, MDTA, MTA, VDOT, and PennDOT or equivalent experience) are a plus. A Professional Engineering license in MD required. Professional Engineering license in PA, VA, WV, or DE a plus. Ability to partner with coworkers and clients at different levels. Must have excellent written and verbal communications, excellent organizational skills, and strong project management skills. Experience with and understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and structural analysis software such as Midas, LARSA, OpenBridge Designer, and STAAD is required. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products is required. Experience with road and/or rail bridge rehabilitation design, and bridge load rating analysis is desired. Experience with additional transportation/infrastructure agencies located in the Mid-Atlantic is also desired. Experience managing projects involving multiple fields such as roadway, drainage, geotechnical, environmental, etc.; and experience supervising the execution, financial performance, and quality assurance of multiple simultaneous projects is desired.COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $104,000 - $181,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
