The role of Senior Project Manager, Core Financial Services Technologies is an instrumental role in Western Union technology organization, taking responsibility for managing large scale technology projects, including software and infrastructure transformation and upgrades. This includes strategic multi-million initiatives spanning various technologies including settlement, treasury, ERP, credit and other. It will be reporting to Head of Core Financial Services Technologies in Lithuania. This person is expected to operate autonomously in many situations by making decisions, pushing progress, and communicating the decisions to the CIO, CFO and subsequently to the organization. We would like our new colleague to operate in a highly collaborative manner across a diverse set of stakeholders and operational owners but also disrupt and overcome a culture of consensus decision making.
Role Responsibilities
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones using appropriate methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, SAFe).
Align IT projects with the company’s strategic goals and digital transformation initiatives.
Ensure project execution follows corporate governance and compliance standards.
Act as the primary liaison between IT teams, business leaders, and external vendors, manage expectations and communications with C-level executives, department heads, and end-users.
Drive cross-functional collaboration across different business units.
Conduct regular status meetings, reporting, and risk assessments for stakeholders.
Develop and manage multi-million-dollar project budgets, optimize resource allocation, including internal teams, contractors, and third-party vendors.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks that may impact timelines or budgets, implement contingency plans to handle unforeseen project challenges.
Lead Agile/Scrum or traditional project teams and ensure efficient workflows.
Drive organizational change management by ensuring smooth adoption of new technologies.
Track KPIs, SLAs, and project success metrics to measure effectiveness.
Use tools like Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or ServiceNow for tracking progress.
Prepare executive reports and dashboards for senior management.
Conduct post-project reviews to document lessons learned and process improvements.
Ensure IT projects comply with corporate policies, regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, SOX, HIPAA).
Maintain data privacy and risk mitigation strategies within IT projects.
Role Requirements
8+ years of experience in IT project management.
Experience in managing ~100M and larger budgets in a highly complex and matrix environment (e.g., software development, infrastructure upgrades, ERP implementation).
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
Project management certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, Agile (Scrum Master, SAFe), ITIL.
Extensive experience in global companies with several business verticals.
Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial management skills.
Experience of stakeholder management at C-level and across departments.
Risk assessment and problem-solving capabilities.
Familiarity with enterprise IT systems (ERP, CRM, cloud platforms, data analytics).
Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project, Jira, Confluence, SAFe framework.
Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to influence senior executives and business stakeholders.
Change management and business transformation experience.
High adaptability to fast-paced corporate environments.
Strong understanding of core business processes (e.g., finance, procurement, HR).

Salary
The monthly gross base salary range is 5,140 – 8,567 EUR. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Total on target compensation includes a base salary plus long-term and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance.
